Inexpensive and more horse power rarely go together. A good tune up is probably the best place to start.


  • New plugs and leads,distributor cap/rotor(i think the ea81 isn't electronic distro),engine flush and new oil/filter,air filter, fuel filter, new coolant after a radiator flush.
  • Carby rebuild, and tune
  • Fix any vacuum leaks
  • Re earth the engine (cleanup all the earth points with some wet/dry so they're bare metal)
You can do all that with basic tools for a couple hundred bucks.



After that it's things like bigger exhaust, bigger carby,bigger intake,bigger fuel pump and a dyno tune.
