Recently purchased this OB with a broken shift cable. After replacing the cable and ensuring shift selector was properly adjusted all forward gears operate prop. Starts in park or nuetral But REVERSE ACTS LIKE A FORWARD GEAR. tried a different selector switch still have the same issue everything else works great Any help would be greatly appr.

G'day pushrod12 :welcome:

I dont know much bout this but it sounds like its not adjusted properly or too short a cable was used. Maybe double check the part no?

I'm sure someone else better informed will help you out

Sounds a bit like an Italian tank, 12 reverse gears and one forward ... :rotfl:. Just kidding, some of my best mates are of Italian descent.

Anyway, a warm :welcome: to the ORS forum, mate :).

Your problem sounds like the sort of thing any auto transmission shop could diagnose/fix in about 10 seconds.

Me? I hate automatics ... :iconwink:. My SWMBO doesn't like it when she has to drive my 5MT SG ..... Each to their own, as it says in the book of old sayings.

BTW, it helps if you put your general location in your user profile. That way, we are able to better help with solutions to problems. No point in recommending Mordialloc Subaru Wreck for parts, if you live in the USA or the UK, or Queensland ...

I had a Falcon with a 4EAT that was stuck in reverse at the same time as forward, drove back from Port Lincoln through Wilpena Pound like that...about 2000kms in reverse! :rotfl:

Thats one tough transmission! Went through a heap of fuel though :(

Its hard to beleive it terminal it runs thru the fwd gears to well and no material in pan it all started with a broken shift cable. Still searching for a answer thanks O:-)
