Ok dig this...

My wife's 99 has the square remote, two button next to each other.

I'd like to replace it.

When I search I get a picture of the squircle (Squared circle) remote my Baja has, Then the replacement is the longer tear drop shape.

No one acknowledges the squircle shaped one?

Will the Tear Drop work ?

Pics below for reference.

Why are you replacing it, mate?

You know that you should be able to just put a new battery in it?

If it's the same as mine, it takes a CR 1620 3 volt.

Bugger!!

Now I have opened the key to check the battery size/voltage, the bloody remote locking no longer works!

:poke:  :furious: ...

[EDIT]

DOH!

I had put the battery back in upside down ... :shake:

Realised this after reading Mr T's post here: https://offroadsubarus.com/showpost.php?p=38863&postcount=1

All OK now.

Three interesting things come out of this act of gross stupidity on my part:

1) Reverse polarity does not appear to have damaged anything ....

2) The engine immobiliser still recognised the transponder, even with the reversed battery, and the car would both start, and kept running for at least a minute or so until I switched the ignition off. Good to know that having a flat battery in the key doesn't strand you somewhere.

3) The battery can go flat, or be changed, without altering/erasing the key's programming.
