Make sure that your user profile is set not to receive messages from unregistered users.

Go to User Control Panel / Edit Options / turn off "Visitor Messaging" at the very bottom - untick both boxes.

This guy is awaiting confirmation of registration.
If I were a betting man, I'd bet he won't get it ... :iconwink: :lol: :rotfl: :lildevil:.

Seeing as there are no Admins on deck ATM, I took it on myself to ban him permanently ...

One of the Admins can review that decision later, if they think it necessary.
 
Thanks John,

Don't hesitate banning spammers. Better to err on the side of caution. Banning can be undone if necessary but that has never been needed. You know one when you see it.

The Admins are extremely diligent at keeping these scumbags at bay. Normally they do all that part of keeping the site nice. They do a fantastic job of it too, if I may say so :biggrin:!

I don't normally do any of that stuff, just the housekeeping of moving posts around and that sort of thing. But I wasn't going to stand idly by and let this creep get away with that :bananagunner:!

After the posts by Nipper and Subyroo, it seems that once a potential registrant is awaiting confirmation, they can "see" the PM system.

I don't know what can be done about that, it's not ideal :(.

Our Admins are wonderfully diligent and hard-working at keeping these scumbags at bay. Now that Richard has given his imprimatur, I will help them when I can.

Some days, one or other of the Admins will spend much of the day just banning spammers ... :( :puke: :Bananacomputer: :bananagunner: - it should not be necessary, but it does keep this forum very pleasant.

Compared with some forums I participate in, this one is close to heaven!
Some are close to being cesspits ...

The real kudos should go to the Admins.

The "Visitor Messaging" is another way for members to contact other & is different to PM's
IE: It works separately.

The Admins do 99% of this stuff. They're the ones who deserve the credit!

Equally, there is no point letting these mongrels cause problems for any longer than can't be helped.

An auditor is one who, after the battle, bayonets the wounded ... :iconwink:.
