Black screen with cursor only at boot | 100% FIXED

Go to...

Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon[/FONT][/B]

Double click on Shell and an edit box will pop-up. Delete explorer.exe entry completely and then just retype it back in! Your done!!!!

It's a simple regedit where you delete the explorer.exe entry and then retype it explorer.exe back into the edit box!

For some crazy reason the registry link to this entry becomes corrupt causing the issue. By retyping in the entry you repair the link and the computer can reboot straight into windows without the dreaded black screen & cursor hang!

Only took me two years to work out this one!

Thanks for that.

My registry had "Explorer.exe" as the key value.
I have re-typed it as "explorer.exe".

Shall see what happens at my next reboot in a few days ...

The case of anything and everything in the registry can be of extreme importance ...
