Hi Everyone,
Just wondering what are some modifications people have done in Perth, if not Australia?
Basically I have a fair bit of cash at the moment, so I'm looking at a buying an installing a bunch of stuff at once.
Very interested in
- Suspension lift, hopefully about 3 inch in total.
- Off road tyres that will fit on stock 16" rims.
- Front and rear Bull bars
- Spot light installs
- Roof rack cages

I Would prefer to buy from Perth, but not opposed to ordering from over east.
I've got an 07 Forester x columbia

Thanks for Any help in advance guys :)

A good combo of lift blocks and new struts and springs will give you a good 3 inch lift. Subtle do 1 inch blocks for a good price and seem to be the norm.

I don't think that there are many AT tyres that will fit onto the 17s. I had a good long look and in the end decided it was easier to get a set of 16s and get some good tyres for those. I have got some BFGoodrich ATs waiting for me at the tyre shop :)

I havent looked into the bars too much but subaextreme seem to be the ones to beat. though i have seen some nice custom ones.

These days LED spot are the way to go i think. Mount some up high (on the roof basket) and some down low.

Roof baskets are all over the place and there are 100s of designs to choose from. I am looking at one of the aluminium ones both for colour and design. My XT is silver so it will look better than a black one. One thing i do suspect with roof baskets and racks is you will get what you pay for.

G'day massni94 :welcome:

Thats what we like to hear  ( what most of us wish we could say :rotfl:)

HD raised King Springs will get you ~ 1 1/2" & with 1" spacers from Subtle Solutionsyou'll have your 2 1/2". However you will probably have probs with camber being positive :(

You could use Whiteline KCA414 Camber bolts or Camber Bolts - Eibach or a better way would be a 2" lift kit which has camber compensation built in (plus a little caster as well for better turn in  )

If you want raised springs as well, you will nedd to get a full body lift kit which raises the body off all the suspension/driveline.

If only I can find someone to make steering extensions I will be able to make these kits to order...complete with nothing to buy & nothing missing!

Thanks for all the help guys :)
Just back onto the tyres, I am quite interested in Cooper tyres, and have found some that will fit in terms of rim size and width, but have an aspect ratio of 65 or 70.
I know that the stock ratio is 60.
Will these fit on my car with no lift?

I can sell you a set of 5 pretty much new 215/70/16 geolandar ats tires for cheap should you want them. Im in perth. I think theyll just fit wothout lift or with 1" and easily with 3".

Hi massni94,

I run 215/65R16 tyres with no rubbing at all. I have the common configuration of subtle 1in blocks and raised King Springs.

I reckon 215/70R16 will fit without major issues - some people on this forum and others use them - but I would say you need trailing arm spacers to do it.

As pointed out by Nacha, you may have problems with your camber angles, mine are just about 0 on the rear and go negative with a bit of load on the back...

You gotta post some photos of your ride!

Hope this helps!
Pedro.

Get diffs. Best mod that can be done to a Forester- or any Subaru that does not have them already for that matter

Thanks for the offer mate, but I still need to withdraw the money from my overseas account, which may take a few weeks to get a hold of in the sum I'm looking at withdrawing :) But I'll hit you up if when it comes through :)

So let me get this straight,
If I get king springs and a subtle 1 inch lift I will need to get an adjustable camber bolt only? If so that would be my Probable choice.

Also on another note I just found this website that does turbo kits for n/a subarus.
What do you guys reckon?
https://www.xcceleration.com/engine-packages.html
I would probably go the stage 2 turbo kit with the mild cam as well.

OK, you asked. A waste of money IF you intend on going off road except maybe for sand. I've thrashed even modified turbos on the road in my standard engined N/A Forrie, and off road I reckon there would be very few turbo ones in Australia which could go where I could go in my mildly lifted car even on street tyres. How? Better driving and diffs. The first one is the cheapest mod, and the second one is the best one I have done to the car.

Yeah, I would agree. When I bought my XT I had no intent of taking it off road really. It was only after realising there is no way to have fun on the roads any more and the off road looks like a lot of fun that I made the mental switch. Having now done a bit of running around in the mud with the XT I can inform you that there are issues of running a performance turbo off road. Nothing that can not be overcome with a bit of skill, patience and understanding of your cars dynamics but if off road is your game I'd look to keep it NA and look at ways of increasing your ability to get into and out of places. Remember, 4WDing is more about driving skill, vehicle placement and vehicle setup. There are few situations where having massive top end power will be to a distinct advantage.

On the other hand, on the road, there are few things that hold a candle to a turbo Subaru!

I agree with Rally & Doug, what you need for offroad is low end torque, these turbo kits are more for mid-high end power. If you scroll down they also have supercharger kits...thats what I'd go for. There's at least one person who has supercharged their Subie (an MY hatch), with a cutoff switch so its only enabled when required. By all accounts thats a beast both on & offroad! :lildevil:

Its a pretty expensive way to go though, & you will need an engineers certificate which is also pretty expensive & you may need upgraded brakes. If you're prepared to do it then I say go for it...you would have a very unique & very capable Forester!

PS: if you did this (or even if you didnt lol), I would certainly be upgrading your diff to a KAAZ or Cusco in the rear but better with a Cusco or Torsen style centre in the front as well. That plus a lift & decent tyres would make it formidable! :lildevil::monkeydance:

Which is why I have one for off road, and one for going quick. And both have good front and rear diffs. The Impreza also has 6 speed, DCCD, quick rack, coil overs, adjustable suspension, 8 piston front brakes, billet compressor wheel turbo, launch control and more.

Those supercharger kits aren't that great for low end torque what you want is a PD type blower either roots or twin screw.

Good luck mate. Plenty of guys to help you out here. You'll have to join us offroad sometime. Where in Perth do you live?

Thanks mate
I would love too, even though at the moment my subi is stock as a rock and rolling on street tyres.
I live in Ardross. South of the river near garden city shopping centre.
What about you?

In terms of wheels.
What other OEM manufactures will fit on a subaru: eg jeep, audi ect?
I am looking for some 15 inch wheels, as I am worried that putting 70 aspect ration instead of 60 will 1. decrease my braking ability, 2. decrease my acceleration 3. rub on the guard when the vehicle is 'flexing'
I've seen a few decent jeep 15 inches on gumtree.

Pretty much anything with 5×100 stud pattern. You want an offset of +48 or less.

If you really are unhappy with the power of your 2.5 (which I was tbh) I'd say go a raptor supercharger kit. Bolts on in a day, has everything you need and will make roughly the power of an xt except woth way more down low. Although it will make your fuel consumption go through the roof so keep that in mind.

Audi 15s work. You could then run slightly bigger tyres and have no rubbing. Winer they are about 6kg a wheel lighter than your steel wheels, you'll accelerate faster and brake better than you currently are already.
I got mine with the new wheel nuts and hub rings for about $500....

Aw yeah I know of that area. I live in Karrinyup but I'm over Vic park way and Newry the airport all the time for work and the likes.
If you wanna have a look at lift kits you can see mine sometime. ..

Just updating,
I have 90% decided that I will be ordering a Raptor Supercharging system for
the foz. I think It will more than make the extra low end power and torque that I need, and apparently the instal is easily doable at home :)
