A WRX STi at Bathurst?

That would be nice :lildevil:

It really p****s me right off that what was one of the greatest races in the world is now no more than another round of the Australian Supercar championship! Grrrr :yell::furious::eviltoyou:

The great races are the Indy 500, Brickyard 400, Le Mans, Paris to Dakar, Isle of Man TT. Bathurst used to be in that group, highly regarded around the world & a title much sought after by foreign marques.

We used to have such great cars as the Ford Sierra Cosworth, Nissan GTR, BMWs, Jaguars, etc as well as Falcons & Commodores. I understand not having the Group B & C like in the old days...the speed differential is too great creating too much danger. So why not have a qualification of 7% within the pole time required to compete? This is the case in many other forms of motor sport. A Mitsi Evo or WRX STi is more than capable of doing this, as well as many European sedans.

Imagine if the French made some stupid rule that only French cars could compete at Le Mans or the Paris to Dakar! Or only European bikes at the Isle of Man TT

EDIT: Just saw a car taken out by a kangaroo. Perhaps roo bars at Bathurst? :rotfl:

Yep, I'll have to agree thunder039 :sadbanana:
And with a new manufacturer joining (I think) next year, gone are the good old days

Bathurst isn't that that place in NSW where they used to have a bloody great car race up over a mountain or a hill every year? (end sarcasm)

I haven't watched Bathurst for over 20 years, that's when it turned to crap.

Bathurst 12 hour - always a good race.

I forgot bout the 12 Hour race, The Mazda rotary dominated till it was banned for being too good! :(

Great to see a WRX leading a Falcon & a Commodore :lildevil:

I get my fix of touring car racing when they bring out the Masters, it's the best part of the weekend by far.

Boss, GT, Charger, Comaro, Monaro, Torana... enough said :)

I guess the appeal of a touring car race is the disparity between manufacturers cars, but of course it was the degree of disparity that eventually bought about the v8 supercar platform with the domination of Godzilla. I bet been a Ford or Holden fan in '91 and '92 would have been pretty disappointing. It must be a tough job being head of these racing organisations and striking a balance between cost, entertainment and profitability.
