We are just on a magical mystery tour at the moment, and have noticed scooby2's @ss is a bit low to the ground. I am thinking that its probably her rear struts which I think (I only think, I don't know) are self levelling.

These are my questions:

We only notice this fully loaded... 4 people and parephenalia and towing the love shack. .. Maybe about 800kg?

Would we benefit from a sway bar when towing, and does it lift the rear up a bit? If we need to replace the rear struts, what would be recommended for a mix of on/off road driving.

I would post a pic but technology is baffling me from the phone.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Best regards,

As far as i know, only limited and h6 has self levelling at the rear. If you have self levelling and shagging @ss, it should be time to replace it. To help with towing i recommend hd spring.

Gidday tuckerbag... Thanks for your tips :-) ... We laughed @ shagged @ss... We thought the old girl was just a bit saggy!

Best regards,

How are the springs looking? If you have been carrying heavy loads around, essentially they are what cops it. A constant load of 800kg is pretty serious so you may want to consider heavier duty springs, however bear in mind if your struts are self leveling you will need to replace them at the same time because longer springs can't be fitted with self levelling struts.

Thanks for all the responses, will be due for a service soon so will get some prices at that time. We unhooked yesterday to go to town and scooby2s @ss was up where it should be... So it is the load I think and the suggestion of hd sounds like what we need.

I think that scooby2s life before her rude awakening with our family at 170000 Kms was somewhat sedentary. Never mind... Her @ss will be restored to its former glory!

Best regards,

Scooby2s saggy @ss .... bearing in mind there aren't four people in it yet!

Scooby2 unhitched:

.... We think something must have happened along this trip. The drive home she was not her normal stable self!

Best regards,

Even unhitched it looks low. I'd go raised springs to lift it a little, firm up the ride for better handling & esp to handle heavy loads

Thanks Luva of the Nacha ... gotta send the Scooby2 for an @ss lift methinx.

Best regards,

....... and now she can be seen in public. Today Scooby2 had an @ss lift. Just had the rear done for now ... King Springs + KYB shocks. Ironically, it also inadvertently fixed the headlights. NOW we know why people kept thinking our lights were on high beam... her saggy @ss was making her lights hunt possums :)

This is her now:

Looks really terrific, S2. What a difference !

Bet Scooby2 handles a lot better as well. Hope it didn't break the bank ... :(

:-) Thanks, we are really happy with the end result. Tomorrow we'll really test her. I was a bit cautious about how the springs/shocks would affect the "ride" of the car. Thanks so much for the input, it is very much appreciated. I get motion sickness, so was very cautious about any changes. I think it will be great just quietly, but won't really know till we hit the road again. If the @ss is ok over the next 10,000kmw, next service we'll get the front done.

Best regards,

Hooked the Shack up today, and oh my... what a difference a day and some parts can make. Even the driveway from hell was a breeze, all because of a new @ss

Yeah looks heaps better! I dont think you will find the ride too harsh, just firmer. Let us know how it goes...
