Hi Everyone

As many of you will have seen from the planned trip thread, last weekend DedmanWalking, Frug and myself headed out to get a bit of practise in for the planned upcoming Offroad Subaru Video. There are a number of photos already uploaded at that thread:

But here's a rundown of what we did!

Started off the trip in Warburton Saturday morning. After a brief admiration of each other's cars (in particular myself oggling DedmanWalking's winch) we headed to Starvation Ck Rd to explore some of the muddy, rutted nightmares of tracks that run off it. And by God did we find what we were looking for! We spent the morning playing in some of the steepest, slipperiest terrain I've ever driven. Never again will I doubt the capabilities of my Foz, or anyone's for that matter - all vehicles performed exceptionally well.

After a brief lunch we headed to Patrol Rd and had a bit of fun in the mud there, before doing a loop with Muddy Ck Rd and heading back to the bitumen. After that we did a quick little track to the side of the road that had two very minor little creek crossings. Good fun though.

Then it was time for a coffee in Warburton before deciding what to do for the night. The cyclonic weather conditions encouraged Emma (my girlfriend) any myself that a nice warm motel room in Eildon was the way to go, but the ever-adventurous DedmanWalking opted to camp alone in the nearby state forest.

The next morning we headed up Eildon-Jamieson Rd to tackle the terrible Mt Terrible. Rather than going straight up Mt Terrible track we followed Big River Rd to Dane's Spur Tk, then turning to Newman Track and following it to the peak. There was a great deal of forest debris on the tracks indicating some fairly vicious winds recently, and the temperature dropped and dropped until we hit the summit.

We saw some snow (briefly) atop Mt Terrible, and had a lunch of slow-cooked sausages before beginning the descent. Now I must say that my knuckles were the whitest I have probably ever seen them on some sections of the way down Mt Terrible Tk (heading toward Jamieson). If you are every going to attempt to tackle this track, I can recommend not attempting to climb it this way, at least not in a Forester. It is steep and in some places the track is laden with sump-crushing boulders. Still, good fun.

My camera captured mostly video so I don't really have any photos that are much different to what the others have already posted to add, but I will edit together a sort of "dummy" version of the video I am planning from the footage I took to show everyone the kind of thing I am talking about.

I would also like to do another scouting trip out west in the near future for those who are keen to attend.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning!

Can't wait to see the vid once it's edited
Especially the white knuckling as you put it, at Mt.Terrible

Mr Turbo

Alrighty, here is the first taste of the "Offroad Subaru Video":

I am considering this the "demo" - footage that likely won't make it into the finished product but what I put together from this trip's adventures. Enjoy!

Thats very cool, reminds me the Camel Trophy in Brasil and Borneo :)
