I can get some 15"x7" rims cheap but I'm wondering is this too wide. It is for 215/75/15 muddies for my '97 Foz when going offroad only.

The tyres are 10mm wider than standard & 15"x6" rims are standard so these would be 25mm wider. This will make the sidewalls sit out 7.5mm more each side than standard tyres on standard rims. They are light truck tyres so good puncture resistance.

What do others think?

They're 15x7", +39 offset. Shouldnt be any problem rubbing but I can test fit them 1st.

My worry is how the wider rim will affect the tyre offroad. It will be for my muddies so on some more "adventurous" tracks lol...rocks, ruts, etc...

It should be fine. 7" is still much narrower than the width of a 215 tire. People often run 215s on 7.5" rims. I don't know about offroad but on road it is beneficial as it reduces lateral movement of the sidewall around corners.

I've got my treps on 7" rims
So a 215/70/15 on a 7", fits nice, I can't say if there's any benefit or problem as I still haven't got them on the car :(
Oh and theyre a 40offset, they will scrub on the guard lip but there is plenty of clearance from the strut body

I got some Audi A3 rims instead...finally found some

Still thinking bout these for my Geolanders which are for mostly road use, the better offset & wider rims would greatly improve the handling onroad...
