hey guys

just need to know if its worth keeping the stock sway bars and replacing all the links and bushes

dont have the money atm for a full sway bar set atm

im running a 1996 outback 2" lift on khumo radials 798 205 70 r15s
i use the car for fire trails and cruising the open roads alot

just want to get a bit better cornering .

not worried about mpg as im getting 130 km to 11 litres :)

For better cornering, you have to get "bigger" sway bars but you will loose wheel travel when off road.

On cars that use the C type rear swaybar links you can swap sides and flip the arms so that the swaybar mount is on top of the arm instead of underneath it. this effectively moves your swaybar mounting point up 2" and leaves your swaybar sitting in its original position after the 2" lift.

Ok, thanks for the information !

I have an SG rear drivetrain (3 cm wider track)

Yes, everything bolts on easy, and the CV's are the same length on the SF and SG despite the larger track and it gives you more room between the shock and the tire and better cornering too !

Na mate ive just got 1 inch spacers and using forester struts all round with khumo. 205 70 r15s :)

U mentioned flipping the lateral arms ? How hard would that be to do ?? Would it effect the ride at all and also i do alot of drives with my car club on bendy highways then hit the rally tracks on wknds ?

did you flip and swap the rear lateral arms when you put the lift in?

I cant quite get my head around what you are talking about doing but i need to do something to fix up my swaybars after my lift.

Could anyone who has done this post a pic of the finished product?

Lol. Take the drivers side arm & put it upside down on the passenger side, & the passenger side arm upside down on the drivers side. Now instead of the swaybar link bolting underneath the arm, it bolts on top of it, ~2" higher :biggrin:

Ok so what is sf sg that you guys are talking about . ? I know i have a bg9 outback
So just wondering what i would need to do to stiffen my ride up i dont want to lift it any further just have a little better cornering ..

Also would be awsome if someone could tell me what other (thicker) sway bars from other model subarus would i be able to use on a 96-98 outback

SF = '97-'02
SG = '03- '05
SG9 = '06-'08

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Holy Threadjack Batman!

Back on track guys - the OP is talking Outback not Forester so pls limit your responses to the OB. Start a new thread for anything else; thanks
