tow bar wiring for 05 Forester?

Hi
I'm new to the world of towing and bought a used towbar but it didn't come with the wiring harness.
I bought a 7 pin small plug with ribbon cable at supercrap and found the 10pin plug R79 in the boot.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram I could use to connect it up?

Sorry, did you buy a 7 pin round? Take it back and get a 7 pin flat for you car and trailer. They tuck up out of the way better for off road driving. The wiring diagram should be on the packaging. Let us know if you still have problems.

Buy the genuine harness and it will plug straight in.

if you are any good with a multi meter you should be able to work it out. if not somebody with the same year or close should be able to have a look for you. i have an 07 but when i get a chance i will have a look at mine

revisiting this thread after 15 years!! I still have the same foz but have since installed a reversing camera. It's quite dim at night so I'm went to fit a removeable aux reversing light hooked up to the trailer plug., only to be used while away camping. Then found out it didn't work because the reverse wire isn't hooked up. Does the 05 Foz have a reverse wire in the R79 plug?

Probably not else I would've mentioned it - I will have another look. For extra LED reverse lights on my Triton I added a relay to the parking light supply which is then triggered by the reverse light circuit. So the extra reverse LED lights only work when the parking lights are on.

Nope, no reverse in R79 and to refresh:

1&2 RY Licence and Tail Lights
3 WB Stop
4 BG Left Turn
5 LgW Right Turn
6 GB Fog (probably not connected)
7 B Earth/Ground
8 B Earth/Ground
