Essential cargo

I have mounted my fishing poles, it's not finished yet, but you get the idea. I need to paint the wood still. I took two pieces of wood, drilled a hole large enough to accept the handles of the poles. Next I took Velcro for the front of the poles and attached them to the "oh ****" bars in the back.

I also used the Velcro to mount a work flashlight and my hatchet.

Overall really easy mod, aslong as you don't mind drilling holes in your car

I was thinking about that but I didn't know what to look for, any ideas?

I was just thinking some closed cell foam glued to the inside of the cutout. Same stuff they make those cheapo camp sleeping mats from

How strong is your hatchet mount? If you were in a front on collision it could end up flying forwards...

Hatchet mount is very strong and this is not an issue. It will be mounted to a steel roof basket.

Anyway if I was in a front on collision imagine the injuries sustained by unsecured rods and reels spearing into you from inside the cabin!

Hence the roof mounted option and inquiry!
