Where is the best (cheapest) place to obtain camber bolts for the rear or a forester (99 model) and what models of car have compatible camber bolts?

Cheers

I have whiteline bolts for $65 pair and H&R bolts for $80 delivered anywhere in Aus.

I bought them then built camber compensation into my lift blocks.

I build camber compensation into the front lift blocks but the rears had no clearance on the spring to allow for any compensation in the right direction....

I have Whiteline KCA414 Camber bolts in the rear. I also have done my lift kit now which has camber compensation & the springs are rubbing...I'm going to look at SG lateral links & shafts which apparently are 3cm longer.

Camber bolts are easy to fit, just line up the cam & the lug & tap it in then rotate the cam for extra camber.

Had no probs with the Whiteline but on other forums they've spoken about Eibach & H&R snapping & slipping, so I'd keep away from them

^^ So do you have 2" blocks and raised kings now? If so how are you finding it?

ralf at TruTrack recommended and installed Eibach, citing weakness of Whiteline.

It trust him so I have Eibach.

H&R have the highest torque spec.

The clamping force is what should secure the alignment, not the sheer force, regardless of fandaned locking tabs.

I'll take a slipped camber bolt any day over a failed camber bolt.

I always love the Variation in opinions lol.

Stilson, did you find tensile strengths of each bolt somewhere? I'd love to know that....

Dulagarl, I'm concerned bout their strength as well...one day I'll do a factory camber bolt conversion on the rear. Just drill out the hub & one side of the strut to accommodate the factory camber bolt

High :biggrin::lildevil:

Still have some sorting out to do before I get my wheel alignment. Finished my extended trailing arms (20mm), paint drying today. Have to replace my wrecked front control arm rear bushes with fancy caster offset bushes lol.

Then gotta chase up a new (old) exhaust centre section to replace my split one :(

Due to the stiff Kings, I've only noticed a minimal amount of extra body roll, but it has better turn in now due to some caster built in to the front strut top blocks, This should get even better

Yeah im really really tempted to go for the raised springs as well but then my car would be more non-legal than it already is :( stupid laws....

You could go for "standard" height Kings springs which I think are a little stiffer than stock. You can also get custom spring rates from Kings, not sure of the cost. That will help with the extra weight you have up front & improve your handling at the same time

Thats probably what im going to end up doing just so I stay a tad closer to the law.

If anyone has any more info on this that would be much appreciated. Going to be running a 20kg winch up the front with body reinforcement and possibly (hopefully) a bullbar to top it off so thats going to add some weight to the front end. Oh and a heavy duty sumpguard as well as my last steel one bent and now i have a very slight dint in the sump :(

Might want to check the camber bolt dimentions of the old wagon Dedmanwalking, I've been looking for factory camber bolts for the rear of mine when i make strut blocks in a few weeks. I figured i've got the milling machine I may as well put in the standard blots

SG lateral arms are 15 mm longer (415mm vs 400mm) than SF, so that will give you a 30 mm larger track. Impreza WRX lateral arms are 10 mm longer than SF.

You have a milling machine?? :surprised: Can I use it? Can I use it? Can I use it? Can I use it? Can I use it? Can I use it? Can I use it? I wish I had a mill and a lathe, then I would be able to make my rear locker for sure!!

Do you have a design? We'd all love to see it if you do or any ideas you have. You could also talk to Taza who was looking at designing a locker.

A locker would be a massive improvement to our Subies offroad ability & if you were able to design one that was reliable you would have many people interested! :lildevil::monkeydance:

Do you have a design?

Nah not really, I haven't bothered as I dont have any of the equipment to build it . Ive been playing around with a forester diff I got from a wrecker thinking a bit about it but its very very tight. doing some force calcs its actually pretty hard to design something strong enough within the small diameter of the diff. Would definitely need some very hard steel in the locking mechanism.

One day I will have time and money and I will build a locker and it will be awesome
