Please refer to the attached link. GME has recently released a plug and play version of this radio as well.

If anyone has a TX3100 I would be interested in feed back. The plug and play version appeals as I could easily transfer from one Subi to another. I assume the main unit in both versions is the same and maybe I could more permanently install in one car by installing a permanent antenna.

Looks interesting. Would be keen to hear any feedback also. My only problem would be how you would run the cable to the magnetic antenna obviously situated outside the car. I.e would you have to have it just going out one of the windows or would you put it through the firewall and out through the engine bay? The latter would seem to defeat the purpose of it being portable.

Hi Minas01,
I was thinking of a fixed antenna on the main car and using the portable on the others i.e. cable out the window antenna on the roof.

You could always use the GME through-the-glass unit. I have one on my XV's windshield with a GME TX3400 installed. Great comms, even at only 2bd gain. Much better than plonking a magnetic base on your dusty paintwork, and a semi-permanent installation up though an A-pillar. It's simple enough to route and later remove. Coil up the extra coax under the passenger's seat.

Thanks - I like neat installs. The nice thing about putting it where I did is that the XV's armrest slides forward of course, covering it all up from prying eyes. The mic lives in the console cubby hole when not in use.

Very nice & clean install :)
Well done :)

I agree too about having certain things out of sight from prying eyes for obvious reasons :iconwink:

Mr Turbo

I have the tx3100 but yet to use in the real world seems to be a good clean unit when I tested it from the jeep in driveway and the xv out on the road

I've got the full mobile unit so it has the suction window mounting and the small magnetic Ariel . I have a xv forum trip to sutton forest on the 28th so ill be able to try it out fully

Nice install mate. Personally I'd only go for a hard/permanently mounted unit. I have a Uniden 7700nb unit which is small neat, easy to use and with my long range aerial I can get around 15km distance. It's super clear, almost like that of a phone conversation on a mobile. Even through the dunes or hills I can get a few km worth of distance. The clarity means the most to me, same goes with my stereo system.

Hi ick72
Interested how you find the suction cup window mount. I periodically have to refit my suction mount for the mobile which is a quality one not a cheapo. I would not be real pleased if it falls off on rough tracks.

Taza as asked by Nachaluva, what aerial do you have ? What is the db ?
