I am thinking about another way of having diff lockers, has anyone tried some helical diffs in a Subaru equipped with ETC, because this might just work perfect, the helical diffs making a very good job when all 4 wheels are on the ground and the ETC would just brake the wheels in the air when diagonal spin and send the torque on the opposite wheel...easy and fully automatic :)

What do you think about this ?

I don't think so, the helical diffs would do most of the job and the ETC would just come as a "rescue" and wouldn't work very hard as the helicals react very fast to the torque, well, its a "new" idea...

I see what you mean.

The ETC is a reactive system where the helicals are almost proactive.

How does one retrofit an ETC system?

That's what I don't know, I'll ask my mechanic when the DCCD and 1,59:1 will be fitted, on 6th of may.

You should fit helicals in your Foz as you already have the ETC, I would be very interested to see how it works.

I still prefer a plated LSD in the rear i think. the traction control still takes 1-2 seconds to properly react. Plus for it to work really well you've got to pretty much have your foot to the floor. I think it's alot of pressure on the CV's spinning full noise then having the brakes grad suddenly.

Could work well in the front though.

Sent an email to Quaife about the compatibility with an ETC, just got the answer...it works very well !
I think I'll go this way because its already 9 months waiting on the rear locker and the mechanic hasn't started it yet:furious:

excuse me but what is the ETC that r u talking about?
Thank u and sorry for the stupid to someone question...

I'd go a plated diff, IMO it would work much better. The next best thing to a locker :iconwink:
