As promised ill upload some pictures from my two week trip around Tasmania.
the trip was a gift to ourselves for our 21st and for graduating university. went around most of the state and soar most things but still needed more time to see everything.
the car went really well until the last few days were we have the CV issues which has now been fixed. the car did use a lot of fuel at times with the all the gear and the very hilly and slow winding roads. about 13l per 100km we averaged for the trip :surprised:.
The weather was average at times and we got very wet in our tent (about 70mm we had one night) it meant we had to spend the next day drying everything  by the end of the 2 weeks we had to stay in a hotel because there was just so much rain i was sick of getting wet. since getting back I have re-water proofed the tent and yet to test it out.
any way some pic!

see i told you it was cold and wet! :rotfl:

there is many more but these are the main 'subi' pics

Nice pics thunder, looks like you had fun.

The photo of the rooftop tent unfolded reminds me that I have to drill two extra holes so the ladder secures one rung higher so I don't have to climb in on a 45deg angle.

Thats a really nice set up you have there mate :)

Great pics too mate :raz:

Regards
Mr Turbo

it is a great set-up and the forester is just big enough to fit everything in snug.
But the set-up does hurt the cars performance thus economy and for this reason i am going to start looking into rear jerry can holder.
I was VERY impressed with the self adjusting shocks in the rear. i though i would need 1" spacers or king springs in the car to use it effectively but once the car is moving the rear pumped up nicely and wasn't much less then stock (although 1' spacers still would be nice :lildevil:)

had a great trip and cant wait to go back now we know where we're going ;)

Excellent trip and report, Thunder!

This is the first time I've heard such positive feedback on the self-leveling struts in the rear! I've been pondering an "upgrade" to regular springs when I install my strut-top lift blocks. Now, I'm having second thoughts. Plus, the block that will go in the rear is a bit thicker than the fronts already (1.25 inches in rear v. 1.0 inches in front). I guess your feedback confirms my original cost-conscious decision to stick with the existing struts and springs, including SLS in rear.

thanks it was a great trip i have about 200 photos from the trip, most of scenery as there was plenty of it!
Escher: if they're in good working order then i would keep them in there for sure. I believe it was ratbag?? who also had positive thoughts on the self leveling struts.

Sounds like a terrific, if somewhat wet, trip Thunder.

Nice pics.

Yeah, I seem to recall mentioning that I am fine with the self levelling struts. Actually, I am happy with the vehicle/s generally in stock form.

If something seems to cause the vehicles to struggle too much, IMHO it is telling me that I am misusing it ...

Undoubtedly and obviously others see these things differently, and that's fine too

Much appreciate your thoughts on self-leveling struts, Thunder and Ratbag! I'm sold on keeping them.

Will have to do some measurement instead of just eyeballing it. I've loaded up the Fozz quite a bit several times. Each time it looked to me like the rear was drooping, even after I drove it to "pump up" the rear. However, other have pointed out that the rear wheels always look like they're further into the wheel well than the fronts. So maybe it was an optical illusion. :raz:

Now, I wonder if there is a way to set the self-leveling struts to pump themselves up just a bit more.

Sounds like you had a ball. Thats a very nice setup you have :monkeydance:

Bugger bout the rear shaft still popping out though :(

Thanks for the great write-up and pics Thunder :-) Looks like an awesome trip, and as for the rain... well you still saw and did heaps. My theory is... it wasn't a camping a trip unless there is rain! Otherwise we'd be calling you a "Glamper" :-)
