Hi there everyone.

I'm wanting to install a 50mm square towbar hitch to my 20006 Forester.

The standard one I can get (Haymen Reese) mounts below the rear bumper.

Has anyone even mounted one higher than below the bumper? I do a bit of off roading and I need as much clearance as possible. It'd be great to mount it in the middle of the plastic bumper, rather than under it, then I can customise the lower part of the bumper for more clearance.

I see that DellsFozz has done it (page 5) but has anyone else had one manufactured?

Cheers
Doug

No one else that I've seen. it would have to be a custom job, but unless you have the welding/fabrication skills required, I would leave it for a pro as the last thing you want is your bumper still attached to the trailer as it disappears off into the scrub because your welds failed.

PS: where you from?

hey brumbyboy. Yeah, i'm not sure if any actual mechanics would fabricate a different mount for me. I was thinking of other options other than a SubaXtreme rear bar. they are uber expensive and if i could have done it another way, then that might have been a possibility. I'm in Melbourne.

G'day frug & :welcome: to ORS.

I'll 2nd that about the Subaxtreme rear bars. Not only are they expensive, but they want both you're arms & a leg for them :lildevil:

There's a few DIY's on rear bars on here, which might be helpful.

Regards
Mr Turbo
