I was just looking in the Subaru UK website and noticed they do a 1.6 XV with dual range and this is a 1.447, which I think is the same as an SF foz?? I don't know what the SF 2l power figures are, but would be interesting to see how comparable this is as an offroader.

https://subaru.co.uk/vehicles/xv/?open_spec_table=1

Is the 1.6 available everywhere or just a Europe version?

If this has already been covered on here, then please ignore, but I could not find mention of a dual range xv.

Cheers

Tim

has 4.444 ratio FD as well so effective gearing is lower than an old foz. shame it's only a 1.6 though.

I am glad someone knows their gear ratios- interesting Biesel! I wonder if it is just a European model purely aimed at lower emissions etc.

I know our local dealership has an ex demo one for sale. I may have to go and have a test drive, just to see how it goes.

Seeing that the XV is almost identical in size and weight to our MY06 Fox, with a 1.6L donk I reckon you would have to gear it down to a top speed of about 90 km/h in order for it to have any acceleration at all ... :( :rotfl:

84kw (5600rpm) and 115nm torque (4000rpm).

Not exactly earth shattering.

I think that's 114 kw (5600rpm) and 150 nm torque (4000rpm).

But I agree with you, that's still not exactly earth shattering.

Would be interesting to see the torque curve ...
Inverted ski jump, anyone?

Not the best quality, but took pic of the brochure I picked up ages ago-

114ps (ps = german for horse power) is about 85kw. so 85kw out of the 1.6lt and 92kw in an sf when it was new. The eu 1.6lt forester is also 100kg lighter than the sf was. torque figures are kinda the same with the ej20 n/a at 171nm torque at 4500rpm and the 1.6lt 150nm at 4500rpm.

As a general guess I'd say the 1.6lt would pull and crawl about as well as an sf forester, but on the other hand the newer vehicle has the newer traction control aids.

EDIT: looking at those torque figures theres a longer usable range in the 1.6 as well
