Normaly I drive off-road event with a licensed 2wd VW buggy. But with the winter going on here and the low temperatures I decided to go with the forester. My first experience with the forester in deep mud. I must admit that I had doubts if the forester was capable of driving this event. The rest of the guys where driving in wranglers, discoveries lifted suzuki’s and so on. Mud tires and a winch were recommended.
Hmm, my forester has AT tires and is only a little bit modified. I did mount some extra lights on the roof and that makes driving at night when the front end of your car is packed with mud a lot easier.

But what a surprise the small forester was for everybody! And for myself to be honest..
I heard several times on the CB the question if the Subaru was still driving. And I was.. Didn’t got stuck what so ever, even where LR 90 and landcruisers who started behind me did.

Towing and repairing a vitara some stops for a drink took some time. The group I was driving in reached the finish at 23.30. 7 hours driving, not really fast for only 140km distance. But what a time we had!

I broke my already rusted exhaust and the forry is muddy but for the rest oke.
I noticed that the stock suspension is to soft for these conditions. It bottoms out quite quickly. The next modification wil be a set of ironman or king springs. If somebody knows a company who sells those springs in Europe please let me know!

what a great car this is!

Looks like that was a cool night ride! Nice to hear another story of a Subaru keepin' up with the rest of the pack too. Thanks for posting the pics.
Did the Mercedes finish the ride?

Great trip report & pics casperfromholland :raz:

Looks like you had a "muddy" good time

Nice pics Casper ! If you come to Switzerland, let me know, we could go offroading together !

Nice pics. I'm actually interesting in setting up some rooftop lights like you've got - how do you hook them up?

No the mercedes was from a young guy who thought that is was a good idea to take a shortcut home. He stood there for several hours..:)

Sound tempting! I always thought that offroading was forbidden in Switzerland. I’ve been to Piemonte last summer with the fozzy, awesome there!

@ Barnboy,
I have sended a mail to Sumo asking what the costs would be if they send the springs to Holland. No response yet. If I do not get a respond from Sumo then I gonna buy the springs at westcoast.

@NachaLuva
Some other guys made pictures and a movie. Seeing this is hard to believe that I drove there with my Forester. Believe me I did! If you have some time left see these mad guys driving a Mercedes G class. They started a half hour behind me. The small cars started first. There where 39 entries.

No pics of my fozzy here but you do see my handsome appearance on one off the pics…
And a more handsome pic of my 20 year old daughter who was my co-driver.
She gonna drive these events here self when I'am ready with her Daihatsu Feroza (wildcat).

I made it quite simple. And it worked great! Although it made a lot of noise when your speed is more then 130km. of course I only could drive that fast on the way to the event. On my way back I couldn’t drive faster then 80 km because of all the mud packed in the rims!

Yes, in Switzerland, we should not go offroading, but Geneva is just a few km from France...
