Hi!
got 6000 miles
Yesterday hard start (temprature 40 F)
Happen twice
Ignition 3-4 sec no start just cranking Second attemp the same Third attemp starts....
Anybody have had same expirience?

6000 miles , brand new car , what to expect when milage will go up ?

Perhaps the battery doesn't like the cold; not good for CO! There was a problem years ago with Panasonic OEM batteries where, when cold, would not deliver sufficient power for the fuel system. Once it starts, does it run normally and accelerate OK?

That was my first thought , but bad battery wouldnt crank the engine and signal and lights are ok...
From other side it happens only with cold weather after good 3-4 hours of parking
I found on forester forum a lot of complains about same problem
Some says battery , some saye vacuum leak , some says key and comp cant recognize each other, some wait for 2 sec before crank to let fuel pump up fuel ...
But the best one was "...its not a bug its a feture..."

But the common thing for everybody is after parking cold weather more than about 3 hours.
So my "butyfull mind" thinks its somehow connected to cold conditions ))))

Where is Subaru love ???? ))))

tempo, this is only a thought. Maybe it is a combination problem due to the cold weather. On some cars (my partner is a locksmith that specializes in transponder technology) the ECU will not communicate with the transponder chip in the head of the key unless the battery is functioning correctly.

Perhaps an easy way to check if it is that and not the fuel would be to hook a fully charged battery pack up to your car (obviously that hasn't been sitting out in the cold) and see if it makes a difference to how it starts in cold weather.

Also the 2 seconds before crank to let fuel pump up does not sound silly either. My old 84 Subaru would only start first time if you did that before you cranked.

thx!

tempo, we just had our '10 Forester in for service, and the performed an ECM reprogram under a recall for cold start issues. Not sure if this means anything, but "WVU-31" is listed on the work order, you might have a look into that.

actually i will go to dealership
but i know all answers for all my questions even before ill get there
1) we cant replicate the problem we cant fix it (even if we got 100 of complains about same issue)
2) no you dont need reprogramm you already got it build in in 2012 model ...
So its not a bug its feature ...cold weather + pzev+fuel pump + battery ...all bull**** Main problem I think Subarus its not the same like it was 10 years ago its just become another mainstream automaker

teehee tempo... give em heaps. Ask them.. "where is the Subaru Love"... when it's sooo cold maybe you need a thermal space blanket for on the bonnet!
