Well I couldn't help myself. Went down south to see my brother today... while explaining my car problems he mentioned a mate of his who had a Foz like mine and it was in an accident...
Anyway it's a 1998 GX model (no airbags or abs), manual and has 130,000km on it. Was crashed in 2008 and has been sitting out the back of the guys house ever since(hasn't been ran since but the timing belt cover is undamaged). He is a mechanic and had rebuilt the motor as something happened to it so there is less than 40,000km on the motor!!
There is only damage to the front of the car, drivers side only, pretty minor. Damage was above the chassis rail right where the headlight is.. so it'll need a new bonnet, fender, headlight, new rim, tyre and front bumper. Oh new radiator, condenser and probably the body mounting around the headlight will need to be repaired/replaced...
The rest of the car is really straight, apart from the cob webs and spiders.
Scored the whole thing for $1500 and it'd be worth around $5000 or there abouts(licensed with those kind of km).. I am picking it up at the end of January. So it's my little project to fix up and probably keep as a spare/cheap car to run around in   Might give it to my dad as his old diesel ute isn't very economical or comfortable and he always complains about it..

This is a photo of it from around 2006.. It's still in pretty good nic and will be sweet with the front end repaired and a good polish :iconwink:

Hey Taza

Looks good, mate.

But never let it be said that you aren't a glutton for punishment ... :iconwink:

Thanks, yeah it should be a good project. Could be a little hard repairing the front body support but non the less it'll be fun. I like to take on hard/interesting tasking

Mate thats an awesome score :monkeydance:

1st, you got that LSD diff, then "met" your old L, now a new Foz at a real bargain....good things really do come in 3s

I'd love to see a few recent photos, esp of the damage :poke:

BTW, do the racks come with it...they look exactly the same as mine lol. In fact, its a base model like mine (built 11/97 but reg 01/98), same year, even the same type tow bar. I prefer the white to my silver though :iconwink:

You should put mags on it....
And give me the stock rims.

In your dreams mate, you give me your rear diff... :iconwink:

Yeah I'm happy about it... it has a plastic manifold thats black in colour. Is yours plastic, mines metal
In 3's hey.. well I'm still looking for a g/f lol

Will try, just the car is 120km away so I won't get a chance for awhile. Plus I need to pay the other half of the cost off, thus I won't be picking it up till late Jan(apprentice wages suck)

Yes they do come with it. This one was built in Jan 98, I like the white too. The only thing now is that there is some light surface rust on some of the underside parts due to sitting out in the whether for 5 years and where the damage is there is surface rust but nothing alarming. The paint has fallen off the rims too, flat tyres and pretty dusty but it's still a good buy and when running will make a good little run about. The owner just can't be bothered to fix it himself and said I could have it cheap if I want

It's not licenced either, but should pass without too much issue. Asleast there is no airbags to replace or ABS to get working :)

Mines black plastic too. It's an EJ20J, replaced mid '98... not as powerful as the later EJ20s. Sounds like yours is too :rotfl:

When you get engine parts like leads etc, quote it as a '97 not '98, saves a lot of confusion for the spare parts folks.

Sorry mate, can't help there, I have enough problems of my own :(

I wish I had ABS but not so fussed bout airbags. Will make it much cheaper & easier for you to get going :iconwink:
