A couple buddies of mine started a annual summit to surf run.
We headed out of Newberg, Or and followed the Nestucca river rd through the coast range .
Whilst on our way we hit a couple short trails.
Then find a remote campspot. We found a real gem deep in the woods.
It was abit damp to say the least . Alot of tarps went up then we built a good fire to last through heavy rain.
Dinner was proceeded by abit of brew...
That night it stormed all night and then some sleet, snow mix.
I used my tarp over the back of the open hatched foz and slept inside.
We awoke to blue skies and wind.
A quick run over Mt.hebo and then down to Pacific city, Or and over to Sand lake for some beach and dune fun.
I followed my buddies xterra pro-4x down over a terraced section of rough stuff..and suddenly exclaimed othe the radio..." My rack just flew off in front of me...!!!"
I almost ran over it.... The tires dug in and stopped just in time..!
We reattached the rack..and had more fun.
I have a thule 460 podium rack with adapters to fit the sf...I don't have any faith in it now.... The stock subaru x bars and attachment is better..
Mind you hitting a rough spot at 35mph alot can happen...Not the normal usage of the thule rack design...
It was a great trip overall...no worries..
