I just recently bought a 2004 Subaru forester and I need some tips on what I need to upgrade on the Subaru and where good places in the winter are to go off roading

Welcome '04fosti, a sump guard, fire extinguisher and a first aid kit is a good start. Then bigger tyres, strut top lift kits and limited slip differentials are nice.

I won't be going to extreme ill never put the car in harms way just gunna go on some old mountain roads and stuff as a hobby

Even if you wont be going extreme, lol, a sump guard should be considered essential. It only takes a small, hidden rock or log on a grassy easy track to cause serious damage. Check out Primitive Racing Skidplates

I'll 2nd that re the sump guard / bash plate.
A good set of offroad tyres will do wonders :iconwink: Yokohama AT/s, are very popular & plenty us here use them (myself included)
