I was thinking about some performance headers purely for performance gain. A subtle burble would be OK too.

Do the headers achieve any performance improvements on a 2.0L NA?
If the headers are installed, should the whole exhaust be upgraded to suit?

Hey Taza,
Is that based on the headers you tried in your Foz?

I just did a Google and hit this site below about NA Impreza's that mentions:

EL headers:
Equal Length headers apparently improve exhaust pulses and significantly improve power.

Maybe I should be looking at the exhaust system rather than the headers.
https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1022154 "The general consensus is that the largest diameter you want to use is 2.25”. The typical power gain is in the 10hp range. "

Just interested in my options as the rear muffler is getting a rust hole in it, so want to see what improvements can be made to the exhaust system.

I have Advance headers. They are UEL so they sound great but I can't say for sure that they make any more power. Beware the borla style reduce ground clearance.

I think that 10hp would be when combined with an intake and tune.

From my reading EL is meant to provide more performance than UEL, so all else being equal you would have lost some power. But only a before/after dyno will tell exactly how much.

If you want power from an exhaust get a 2 1/4" from the cat back(muffler included), use a straight through muffler and ask for it to be quiet. They will put 2-3 big hot dogs in the middle to make it quiet.
It will definitely make a difference, I've driven a 97 Foz with the exhaust and against mine it was better and had abit more throttle response..

it sure does sound faster. the exhaust shop that did mine didn't think headers would make much of a difference at all as they said the original were well designed to begin with.

Love that boxer rummble... :iconwink:  But it I reckon it sounds the best from an EA82 L-Series. Just has that really carby rummble unlike WRX's and EFI soobs...
But a 350 chev sounds f***ing awesome too, much better than a s**tty Common*****(Commodore)..
