I had new timing belt kit fitted in april this year. After 10k KM we have a whining sound with engine running in drive or neutral. Mechanic says it is the idler in timing belt. Seems a bit short life?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Did you have a mechanic do it or did you do it yourself?
If your mechanic did it I would be asking the questions as to whether the idlers were replaced as 10k is not a very good service life. The down side is I know a lot of people who will just replace the belt and leave the pulleys alone, I know them don't associate with them
