I've just spent a few days canoeing more than 50km through the Lower Glenelg National Park. We carried all the gear in barrels and dry sacks, and camped on the bank of the river. Some really nice scenery, lots of limestone cliffs. There was one nice day with no wind, and thus flat water. The other days were horrible - heavy rain and gale force winds which caused waves so high they were breaking over the side of the canoe. There's nothing like pushing hard into a head wind with freezing water sloshing around your feet.
