Not really subi related, but I thought it was pretty cool nonetheless.

Last month a young woman from Melbourne crossed the Simpson Desert in a '63 VW beetle, and she did it without being towed. Stock vehicle apart from larger wheels and tyres. She's just published a children's book about her adventure.

She had ongoing issues with the fuel pump, but was never stranded. No support vehicles, she carried all her own gear, but had prearranged fuel drops. From Birdsville to Mt Dare and return. She has some rally experience, and has done the crossing before, so she knew what to expect.

Good on her.

One of my uncles competed in the Redex Trial twice back in the 1950s. Both times in a Beetle.

Tough little vehicles, even if more than primitive! What can you say about an engine that doesn't even have an oil slinger on the front (rear ... ) crankshaft bearing! Let alone an oil seal ... :iconwink: :(

Giddat Taz & Thunder

Awesome! That would be one fun trip :D Wonder if she got stuck at all...
She's pretty attractive too. lol

What is it with young blokes and pretty girls in mechanic's overalls? ... :rotfl:

On second thoughts, older blokes too ... :iconwink:
