So, I was test driving some Foresters the other day, new and used. I liked them a lot, and their was a turbo, 2006. Love the look, but the interior seats were hard. Does anybody make replacement seats for that model/year? I have been able to find racing seats, but not regular seats.

Gidday JL

I don't know if you get the same seats we do here in Oz, but after a day driving in mine, my back doesn't hurt ... I'm 65+, with a chronic bad back since I was about 13 y.o.

A friend and I went for 300+ kms drive the other day in my 2006 Fox. He is nearly 5 years older than I am, and currently has serious back pain, arising from serious disc problems and arthritis in his spine. After a day driving and frequent stops to take photos, with him spending the day as a passenger, he was fine.

When my own back is giving me curry, I find that driving in either my ex- 1993 Impreza or my 2006 Forester is the most comfortable place I can be; even if driving all day. Not as a passenger in the Impreza though. It's the getting in and out of that car that was hard for me, specially on the passenger side - due to the way my back is damaged, no doubt. The Forester has a far better seat "bum height" for me ... :iconwink:

You might just find the seats more comfortable than you think they are.

I'm not sure what it was, if the leather had just hardened up, or the cushions themselves, the the 09s, 2010s amd 2012s where much more comfortable. My wife even thought that the 06 turbo seats where rock hard.

Ah.

I had forgotten the leather seats.
One more reason for not buying the turbo, IMHO ... :iconwink:

I forgot to mention that we have had sheep skin seat covers on our cars for around the last 20 to 30 years.

We both prefer these for both summer and winter.

A bit like the sheep skins they have for bed-ridden patients in the hospitals, except that we aren't quite in that state - yet ...

BTW, "Dubbin", or similar leather dressing/conditioner (e.g. Hydrophane?) will restore the leather, just so long as it hasn't cracked right through.

advertise on other subaruforester.org for a swap + cash your way from a non- leather model.
