So this weekend I decided to finally start doing some offroad tracks in my Foz. I headed up to Wollemi National Park with a few mates to try out the tracks around the Zig Zag Railway and the glow worm tunnels.

The other cars were a Hilux and 2 Jeeps. Overall, we were all pretty impressed by the Foz, as nobody really expected it to be able to keep up with the rest.

Shortly after going off the main trail we found a fairly steep hill with some nice ruts, I got the approach angle wrong on the first attempt, but after a quick reverse and a second shot I was up the top.

After heading downhill for a short while the convoy stopped to find a nice drop into some pretty boggy stuff. We took it nice and slow and had to get the right angle.

The Hilux seemed to have the most trouble due to it's large wheelbase, but managed to get through eventually.

The Foz seemed to surprise everyone with how well it handled it.

After driving all over trying to find some decent tracks we came across a large puddle and, instead of checking the depth, one of the jeeps decided to just give it a go anyway........don't think he'll be trying that again

We managed to snatch it out, even though the engine refused to start. Once it got out of the water and drained out it was able to start up and had no troubles.

The last trail of the day was split into 2 paths, the left being a very rough run up the hill, the right being a bit smoother. The jeep decided to give the tougher one a go first.

However, half way up got stuck with no traction.

After a bit of winching, he was on his way again. Considering the jeep was the more capable of our convoy the rest of us decided to stick with the smoother path.

All in all a great day and definitely got me excited to try out some more tracks.

Gidday Stretch

A warm :welcome: to the ORS forum, mate.

Look like some fairly rough bits there!

Sensible of you not to follow the bloke in the Jeep into the poop!!

BTW, it helps if you put your general location into your user profile so that others have some vague idea of where you hang out ... :poke:

G'day Stretch :welcome:

Some great pics, great job on keeping up with the Jeeps. I love it when others scoff at our Subies then their jaws drop when they see what we're capable of :monkeydance:

G'day Stretch & :welcome: to ORS.

Great trip report
I'll 2nd what you said about there being some great tracks up & around that area :)

It's been a while, but I know the twin hills you're referring to :iconwink:
It sure is a beauty.
And I must admit, I did chicken out & took the easier right hand side, as the left hand side is a doozy :)

Regards
Mr Turbo

Howdy and :welcome: Stretch!!!

Thanks for a great trip report, an excellent way to join our little forum.:cool:

Nice pics, and a good idea to go with non-subies to see the difference !
