I ve been researching my air cooled engine build for two years and I had hit $5000 without ancillaries or shipping from the US for a 100HP aim engine, the Foz does everything the bug did and more so I had seriously considered offloading it but I forgot to pay the rego and was never going to recoup my outlay so I've decided to water cool it.

As I'm not paying rego the project can take a long time to complete.

I think the EJ25 is the best bang for buck engine especially as they are almost twice as powerful as a built air cooled and under a grand to buy.

I'm thinking something ex liberty auto will be cost effective as I will use the bug box and hopefully some bus reduction hubs.

The idea is still in the brainstorm stage so feel free to throw ideas and opinions into the ring.

Call Neil on 0407074141, between 6 and 9 or on weekends as he's been into it for years, you usually have to use an old Porsche auto box, I think he recently sold his last one and he used to make adapters for Subi motors too, he'll be able to put you onto someone for idea's as he's out of it now, personally I'd go 2.2.

Oops, read it wrong, you are staying with the manual lol.

Would keep it cheap alright, but with an EJ25 would go like a shower of **** :iconwink:

It'll go like that above description with an EJ20 or EJ22 before you even get to the EJ25. The 20 and 22 would probably rev out better with better longivity too in my mind.

Of course we want PICS PICS PICS when you do this!

Cheers

Don't hold your breath mate, the only progress I intend to make this year is to sell off the aircooled engine, paint a bit of rust converter on it and get it out of the weather. Then it has to wait until my Datsun 1600 is finished or at least until it's only taking up 1 car bay as its three rolling shells worth of goodness ATM.
