I installed the SUMO SF 2" lift kit this weekend with two friends of mine on my MY02 the Hulk.

The fronts were half an hour of me by myself, but the rears were kind of a pain.

I have drum brakes in the rear, and all the brake line fittings are rusty. so i didnt trust them to take them appart to remove the strut. instead we compressed the springs with spring compressors and the strut with a ratchet strap to access the tophat.

if there was some good way of re-attaching the clip on the strut for the brake line after cutting it the kit would have gone one in probably 2 hours. I didn't trust a hard line only supported at one end, nor did i want to weld with the rubber line attached, so we had to work around it.

i made trailing arm spacers myself literaly the exact same way as SUMO. honestly to save the trouble i probably should have just ordered them.

Everything popped for a few minutes test driving it, but that was just the old suspension settling back into place.

Road manners with the tires are terrible. the lift kit didnt make it any worse.

People often stop and almost stare. also, you are much more likely to run stuff over after installing this kit. it's sweet

the picture of the hulk on the side of the road is stock ride height

Cut into the brake line mount on the strut with a hacksaw, then bend it open to remove the line. Once finished you just slip the line back in and bend it back. Makes life much easier for installing/removing struts and you don't need to bleed your brakes.

I just checked it again.

the tab in the back isn't one of those nice ones with the clip, it has the brake fittings sandwiching it on either side. the only way to cut through the tab to the hole is to crack the fitting or cut into it.

G'day monkyrench49 & :welcome: to ORS.

Great work with the lift mate. It looks fantastic :bananatoast:

That looks awesome mate. the muddies and black rims really set it off! I reckon it looks good with no grille too, might do that with mine. I hate the stock grille.

the tires are BFG MT T/A KM2's, 215/75/15. the rubbed a little on the strut in the back untill they were worn in.

the absence of a grille is because I crashed it and wrecked the sheet metal it mounted to. i actually just ordered some expanded metal to make a new one. I'll re-post pictures of that when i'm done.
