Does anyone know how to replace a speedo cable on an "L" series Touring wagon with auto trans. Mine stopped working tonight on the way hope and I so would hate to be caught speeding.:)

Its fiddly more than anything - the speedo cable will just pull out from the back of the speedo instrument cluster. I'd check to make sure its still connected before going out to purchase a new item.

Best way in is to remove the kick panel above the pedals, this includes the one that surrounds the fuse panel (if you've got two down there - I don't). Bascially what you want to do now is get your hand up behind the speedo - its not an easy task and it may be helped by dropping the steering column bolts out for better access - there should be two or three of these little buggers.

if it does need replacing the gearbox end should have a screw cap around the speedo cable if memory serves me well.

Good luck with it - one of my mates learnt to drive by the rev counter for a good year without a fine!

Cheers

Bennie
