SUMO Project Forester

We start our new project tomorrow @ 6am. This may not be for everyone but it will do what we need it to do. Will post updates as the vehicle takes shape. Don't want to list too many things until they are happening as they may change as we build.

Does this tire make my ..... look big?

Instead of building a kit and then finding tires to fit we found the tires and are building the kit to fit.

Those are some BIG tires, what size???
Wow, this is going to be an interesting build project to watch. It'll be very interesting to see how it looks once it's finished :)

Initial mock up is interesting.

Suspension:
We are going to move the front suspension forward (about 2/3") and the rear suspension back about 4". This will increase the wheel base (and decrease the turning radius), offer a smoother ride, and reduce approach and departure angles. This will allow the passenger compartment to remain untouched. The front tires won't rub on the lower "A" pillar. We will expand the wheel opening to match the center line of the new wheel base as well as the new tire size (305/65r17). To keep the vehicle in proportion we are gonna have to go up an additional 4".

We are converting the suspension over to WRX sedan for the wider track. We are expecting to be about 4" wider than the WRX. Not counting the new wider tires and rims.

Engine:
The engine lost an idler so the heads will need to be replaced. We are gonna change to the newer style exhaust system and get rid of the factory "y-pipe". This will increase ground clearance and protect the exhaust.

Next we finish removing all the suspension/engine/transmission.

Stay tuned.

Still designing the lift blocks. Should have some proto-type stuff up soon. Even though we just go the SH9. I can't wait for this project either.

Engine, trans, suspension should all be out by this weekend (everything is loose and ready, just waiting for the cherry picker). Will post pics of the progress. Been busy trying to keep up with production demands.

Hi there.

Im installing 275 60 15 in my SF for sand dune driving.

I have serious problems in the fronts , they touch the front of the firewall when turning .
Im wondering if is posible to cut it and reinforce later? it looks like the unibody has a room there.

Very dead. But to answer your question: yes, you can definitely cut that steel out but you have to post pictures.

Not dead just sleeping. Been busy. If I slack at all I fall behind. Which I'm already behind. I'll update this tonight.

Lots of new changes coming...........
