Has anyone had experience with the Bob Jane Zenon Z7 on an Outback?

I'm struggling to find a heap of options at the OEM size of 215/55/R17. I've currently got 225/55/R17s Geosquealers on, but i'm getting a tiny tiny bit of rub on hard lock - I wanna go back to 215s..

I'm doing 95% on road use, and the off road stuff I do is nothing too hairy, just gravel tracks and a bit of wet grass kinda stuff for camping. Geolandar AT/S would be overkill...the Bob Janes are currently on sale hence the asking..

Cheers all!

Thanks, Ratbag!

I've since found a few other options...seems i can get some Pirelli P7s or some Dunlop SP300Es in my price range too.. (up to $200 per corner).

Any other suggestions?

I had P7s on Roo2 originally. They are now on my trailer ...
The Michelin XM-2s are considerably better in every respect IMO.

Can't speak for the Dunlops.

The Yokohama GR95s (225x55 17) on SWMBO's MY10 seem to be very good, and I think they are the OEM tyres. At 65K Kms with about 1/3 tread left, one can't complain about their economy. I don't know what they cost ...

Thanks for the heads up on the Pirellis...

I'm gonna give the Dunlop SP300e's a shot - I actually think they were on the old set of wheels my car had when it was purchased by me - and I preferred them to the Geolandars on it now.

There was a rumour the Bob Jane's Allrounder had only a small amount of grip- but that was long ago and no one nows believes it. With this tyre- it would want to be better.

I've been given a good deal on some pirelli p7s... So gonna spring for them, and I'll pick up a set of 16s and put some AT tyres on for off road trips. 99% of my driving is sealed roads anyway.

If grip and sharp response are very important you can't go past Bridgestone Potenza RE002 Adrenalins that I paid $215 each for the 215/55 17 on my Forester XT. I have now done over 40,000km on them and will easily see 60,000km. Sounds like I do similar driving conditions to you. I have also had the earlier near identical RE001 for two sets and had the same excellent experience. They make the original Geosquealers look, feel and sound like crap.

Agreed. I bought 4 RE002's in 215/60 16 for about $450ish? the other week for the Forrie. They are the same type-different size- to the road tyres I run on the Impreza.
