Hi guys,
New member here - spent way too much time lurking around this forum!
recently purchased an MY07 Forester XS and would like to improve its offroad performance.
I have been doing a lot of reading and everything on this site has been very helpful.
Only accessory to date is the addition of a Subaxtreme Sump Guard.
Next is some new rubber! I would like to go up a profile size to 215/65/r16 (from 215/60/r16) like a lot have done on here. I realise it is an increase in diameter of more than 15mm which would make it illegal here in South Australia but would like to do it. Obvious choices are the Geolander AT-S, BF Goodrich AT's or General Grabber AT2's.
BF Goodrich AT's smallest size is 215/70/r16 so that basically rules them out.
Geolanders look good but I like the aggressive nature of the General Grabbers.
My question is - How do the General Grabbers go in terms of performance and quality? and how do they go over here in Australian conditions?

Ive seen one or two people using them on here.
'Paffoh' has used them and loves them, and is quite relevant to me being from Aus, same size etc etc
So just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with them.
Also are they easy to source in Australia?

Thanks guys!

Don't worry about the legality ...

Be EXTREMELY worried about voiding your insurance ...

Search for the tag "insurance" on this forum.

[EDIT] Here's the thread here.

BTW, a warm :welcome: to the ORS forum mate. Lovely people (if you exclude me ... ), and well run.

G'day mate, welcome to the forum!

I was looking at the General Grabbers for my next tyre (curreently have Geolander AT-S and am very happy with them) but neither brand can get any bigger than the size I currently have for my rim and car so I'm going BFG's next. All perform well offroad overall.

welcome, the general grabbers seem to have a similar tread pattern to the BFG's so just for size i would go them, although depends on the price i would go the general tyres next just to try

G'day minas01 :welcome:

I cant recommend the Geo AT-s enough...a great tyre offroad and AFAIK the only AT tyre to use silica...so it grips well on wet roads so you feel confident you can actually make it offroad!
