Went to Box Canyon just outside of Florence, AZ for a little off road fun and target shooting.

That old railway track / bridge your Subi's hiding under is a beauty :raz:

Thanks!

There is a lot of history behind this area. Its actually kind of cool.

This whole area is used by the US Military for small arms and artillery training. During World War 1 and World War 2 there was a POW prison in the area as well.

The area is open for use to the public except during the times when the military is doing training.

The rail road is obviously not used anymore. There is brush growing over it in places, the bridges are made out of very old wood that looks like it would crumble if anything were on top of it. The rail road was used by the military during the wars.

The place was pretty awesome. I had never been there before so I got to see all kinds of neat new stuff.

Off roading is always a blast. But what I really enjoy are the sights, the things you find, the history of the areas you visit, discovering new places, etc.

Its always a plus when I turn the heads of the Jeep drivers when I'm able to go anywhere they can

Back through the trails there are countless abandoned mines as well.

I think I'm going to be making my lift kit this week sometime. I'm going out wheeling again next weekend, so I want to have the car ready by then. The extra few inches of ground clearance will be very helpful.

Here is a bit of info on the area

Looks like a really interesting place. I agree, offroading is great but the sights you see and the things you find really add to the experience.

I totally agree
I couldn't have said it any better myself :iconwink:

I'd love to offroad on some of that terrain, all we have here is beach sand.

It can be pretty brutal on your car. You have to navigate large rocks, water crossings, deep sand, mud, just about everything.

My oil pan actually has a huge dent in it from trail riding. I slipped sideways off a large rock and my front end fell down onto another big rock...destroying my oil pan.

Tomorrow at work I'll be making a skid plate if I have time. I'm on the hunt for 2 inch thick material to make my strut spacers out of right now.

I can say that 15 year old bolts that are rusted are a pain to work with.
