Congrats on starting your member's journal mate.

Love the camouflage - BUT I'd drive with your lights on all the time, specially during the day  ... I once had this beautiful black Wolseley 24/80. After being run into about 7 times in 18 months, mostly when I was stationary, in broad daylight, I sold it on :(.

I hope you don't mind, I fixed the mis-spelling in the title of your thread.

I know how irritating it was to me when I did that, and then couldn't edit it later! :iconwink:

now another thing to fix

the silly CV are going in the front, should have seen that coming. the guy i bought the car from didn't treat it well. was hoping they would last until i got new(ish) transmission, but no. so now i have to look into the transmission/transaxle and see if ill have to buy different ones later.

i cant see a car in the pictures :surprised:

LOL

Mercedes have made one of their electric cars with a camera on the opposite side of it that is then displayed on the side nearest to you ... :rotfl:.

Just great. A near-silent car that you can't see coming ...

Answer to the World's population problem? Specially in countries where the "road rules" consist of anything goes  :raspberry:

the outside i used a vinyl wrap and one-way window film. the inside i used replacement carpet/mat from WalMart, twill fabric from Joans for headliner, visors and backseat. seat covers, bullet plate floor mats, and steering wheel cover from advance. took me awhile to wrap and custome make interior but i love the way it turned out:ebiggrin:

Haha gotta agree, last thing you want is some numnut to not see you and drive straight into you!

Looking good, cant believe the detail you went into...even the headliner! :monkeydance:

Got any side-on photos?

Aaaaaahhhhh

man i got bad luck lol.

so both of my head gaskets go at the same time, no cross contamination luckily just coolant out the top and oil out the bottom. took out all coolant sensors, but not the water or oil pump (phew oil pump not cheap). took 2 weeks to get all the parts, but i got my baby running again. but im not sure how much more life is left in this ea82. she has had a good run at 297k im glad she still has any power, seeing as the person who i bought it from tried to run it into the ground.

Ive started looking into a newer engine but cant seem to find a decent lower mile one. EJ22 (non turbo) seem to be the most common, followed by the EJ25 (which i don't want). Ive found a few EJ18 but haven't looked into that engine yet. all engines Ive found are 190K+ grrrr. shy of shelling out for a re-manufactured / rebuilt / japan direct, i seem to be stuck. i can get a tranny with no prob but it would be useless without the motor. and i want to match the tranny to the motor not the other way around.

Nah these things happen! Now that you've got the head gaskets done it'll be sweet for a long time to come so long as you've done the work properly and look after it from now.

As for the EJ - I'd still match the gearbox to the engine - and keep your low range if you're looking at offroading anything decent. There are adaptor kits out there and the L series box will hold up if you don't go around dumping the clutch all the time. I've done 60k km on my L series box without any troubles from the power of the EJ22. A great conversion, you'll love it!

If you're going to do it on your own, do your research, there are plenty of threads around about how to do it. Get all the parts or even better a donor legacy or the like and go from there. It's a great satisfaction completing the work yourself.

One word of warning, I've seen the guys on USMB say that of those that begin with this conversion for the first time, maybe 1 in 5 actually complete it to the point it's back on the road...

Cheers

Bennie
