Who can recommend to me some good Insurance Companies for Comprehensive Insurance based on your dealings with them in relation to claims etc?

I've read and heard that my current insurer is known to use 2nd hand parts and for the premium I pay each year this is not acceptable to me except in the case where new ones are not available anywhere in Australia.

I was insured (via TCIS who manage the 4WD Assoc. group insurance) with CGU when my Forester got dunked and the motor was trashed. No hassles at all.

Currently, with Allianz also via TCIS because CGU would not longer insure modded cars.

Also with CGU via a broker here. Had to claim recently when a F100 with a VERY BIG bull bar drove into my Impreza and had no problems either. About the only catch is they say you can choose your own repairer but while you probably could push the point and get to your own repairer they don't make it easy to do so. Regardless, they sent me to a Subaru preferred repairer nearby and the repair results have been excellent. I was the not at fault driver, hopefully they extend the same level of service if you happen to be the one making the mistake!!

CGU want $900.00 odd for my 03 XS and that's with 65% NCB no claims in the past 10yrs or more and 2 speeding fines of <9 km/h in the past 5yrs.

APIA will do it for $555.00 and Agreed Value of $19,000 with a $450.00 Excess which is only about $20.00 above my current insurer.

I'm with NRMA with my 03XS Luxury Pack - $622.50 premium, $600 basic excess, $20200 agreed value. I've got the full NCB with a discount for multiple policies.

Haven't had any claims experience with them with the Forrie though.

I am with Shannons, they have been good so far.

No claims for the Subaru, one small claim after a car park incident. And real choice of repairer.

Probably a bit late with this but only just back online after my moves.
I'm with Ozicare insurance agency (A&G Insurance Services) which i think is Auto & General.
MY05,country postcode,no drivers under 40,fully owned,market value with extras,$400 excess, choice of repairer=$342.
I haven't claimed so can't comment.

I am considering a switch from Club 4x4 Insurance to Shannons for both my vehicles - anyone have any experience with Shannons (or AAI Group / Suncorp Insurance - all part of the same group)? Club 4x4 started out at reasonable pricing when they started a few years back but must be getting too many claims from offroaders and keep jacking their premiums up significantly year-on-year. In my case normal car insurance does not suit as my mods/accessories are worth more than the car itself so has to be specialist insurance. I can save $700 by going with Shannons.

I have switched to Shannons

I worked for suncorp group for a while, shannons was about the only brand that was still actually a 'separate' entity back then and still is now I think. Cant think of any customers having actual issues when needing repairs (besides the occasional complete lack of parts for classics)

I have been with Shannon's for a while the only problem I had was the amount of accessories that have been fitted after their engineer inspected the foz no problems at all he even commented how good the foz was built and the amount of cover was way more than i expected

I'm from SA, where SLO lift is technically illegal, but Shannons and club 4x4 were the only ones willing to insure, and being under 25 male I only got third party property to save a bit. Shannons was the only one able to do that and have been great so far.

So I got the 2 inch lift at the front and 2 1/2 inch at the back and I’ve just gone to renew my insurance policy and Budget won’t renew it, do you have any suggestions on who I could use for Car insurance with a lift on a Subaru… Damian
