I am looking for a model of subaru that has chest belts in the back for kids, and has power windows and doors and that is also 4wd so far i have been unable to find one that fits all of my requirements. I like the outback but cannot find one in my price range that's why i was looking for an older one.
anyone know of an older model that would be decent for daily driving and some mild off roading in that meets those requirements? and if so what model/years.

thanks

I assume when you say chest belts you mean lap/sash? I have an MY04 Forester that has lap/sash seat belts for 3 rear seat passengers- and mine is the poverty pack version. I'd have thought Outbacks would have at least what my car has.

In Aus 2004 and earlier Outbacks can be had for under $10,000. I understand that used cars in the USA are considerably cheaper.
I'd be surprised if a basic Forester / Outback of the period 2000 - 2004 couldn't be purchased in good condition for $5,000 or less in the USA.

A warm :welcome: to the ORS forum mate.

Check what the dealers near you have on offer.

My 2006 Forester XS has 3 lap/sash belts in the back.

You need to look carefully, as the centre one can be fully retracted into the roof liner when not in use in the Forester. That's 99.99% of the time in my case.

You also need to be aware of the fact that Foresters split up into three groups: 1997 to 2002; 2003 to early 2008; 2008 to present.

The Outback has always been a more expensive car than the Forester, at least in Oz. So they tend to have higher s/h prices here.

I am just sniffing about for a s/h OB or Forester for SWMBO to replace the dreaded Camry . Actually, the Camry is not a bad car in most respects, just flaming boring. Even more of a "fridge on wheels" (white-goods car)than Subarus ...

You can spend hours on this web site checking out everything to your heart's content:

Good hunting.

What is a Lancaster? I thought they were the best bomber in the Second World War, not a car! Who makes them?

GOLD!

Also sold in Russia as a Lancaster as well I think - it's basically the liberty/legacy or outback, not 100% sure but I know it's a subaru for sure ;)

Cheers

I'd take 4 x Rolls Royce Merlin engines over AWD - or even 4WD! -any day of the week! :lildevil:
The 'L' name for the Liberty / Legacy in EnZed - and possibly a specific model in Japan I think.
Many Subies in EnZed are JDM direct imports.

27 odd litres, DOHC per bank, V12 with nitrous oxide and variable boost supercharger. The Merlin was quite an engine. Would certainly make the Outback a bit of a goer.

G'day jp1985 & :welcome: to ORS.

I also have 3x lap/sash for my rear seats in my Forry (MY05) together with power windows (& controls for them) all round.

Most vehicles makers started putting lap/sash belts in for the middle passengers in the back about 8-10 years ago (perhaps even longer).

Regards

Howdy and :welcome: jp1985!!!

Pretty sure all the Outbacks and Foresters will have the lap/shoulder belts, keep your eye on the roof in the cargo area.
