Hey there,
I am new to this site and want to get into a little off roading. I have a 03 H6 outback. I was wondering how capable it is for the non bitumen stuff. I have been reading on various sites that the Forrester could be better due to smaller overhangs. I am mainly thinking stuff like Stockton Beach and some stuff close to Sydney, Newnes etc. I would like to do the Bridle Track which I believe can be done in a regular road car. I did it with a couple of mates in a Hilux 4x4 about 15 years ago.
Anyone that owns a Outback of the same model I would love to hear what they get up to with this Vehicle.

cheers

The Outback is more than capable.
Stockton Beach won't be a problem. What I can suggest though (unless you already have one) is to get a sump guard.

There are heaps of places that are close to Sydney. I.E Barrington Tops, Watagans, Zig Zag & certain parts of the Newnes area that shouldn't be a problem.

as MrT said "get a sump guard" thats a must! you might want to think about getting a lift. i've got a 2000 outback (same body/shape) with 50mm lift + 30mm lifted springs. another option is getting a front bar to reduce the approach angle (dramatically) but to do all this it comes down to $$$. with these mods done stockton and newnes will be a walk in the park. iv'e done them both a few times. where abouts in Sydney are you? you could jump in a trip some time. i'm thinking of doing a trip down to Yalwal (Nowra/Shoalhaven area) again soon. i will post a thread in the planned trips topic area when i'm organised.

P.S. welcom to ORS:ebiggrin:

Hey Guys,
thanks for the welcomes. Where are some places that sell sump guards. Are the cast alloy better than the folded ones?
Does the lift kit affect handling on the road. The car is still a daily driver, mainly driven by the wife. The off road stuff is gonna only be on occasions. Again where are the lift kits bought.

cheers
