Hi guys just wondering if anyone has fitted up some fog/driving lights in the front bumper of a SH9 Forester, Ive got the 2011 X model and it has some blanking plates where the fog lights go and wouldnt mind gettn some extra lights, I checked with Subaru and they want around $500:eek: for a kit (not real keen on paying that much) i can get a genuine kit from the U.S for half that price but the switch is for a LHD model...

I might look at gettn a set from wreckers etc from a XS or XT model..

Any suggestions or recommendations would be good thanks Clint..

I'm looking into putting 3" HID projectors in my subaxtreme bar. The Retrfit Source sell bixenons and good bulbs and inverters for around $300.

They will need waterproof housings to protect them.

That said they will have an awesome wide beam and the ability to dip them.

I don't know what the laws are in WA but here in QLD the nanny state you can only have the fog lights on if there's.... fog... which we dont get much of on the Sunshine Coast. Otherwise it's a (I think) $60 fine. I've had a warning from Queenslands finest about having them on so it must have been a quiet night for them.

Driving lights are apparently ok so I think he secret is to wire them into the light circuit so that they are always on when the headlights are on.

I've had warnings for by the coppers for accidentally having them on when there wasn't fog. I see them as useless.

Add spot lights or HID your head lights.

With spot lights they have to wired so they only come on with your hi-beam head lights and must also have a seperate on and off switch.

Same here in NSW.
I think the fine is $72 & 1 point (could be wrong on the points part though)
But never the less, it still doesn't seem to deter people though.

I've found my stock foggies to be helpful in dust clouds on outback roads. Particularly in very still conditions when it just hangs there.

The problem is that I bet no one knows it's against the law. I certainly didn't until the copper at an rbt pointed it out to me.

I like the look of the chrome ringed lights but its a bit cheeky that you pay for those fog lights on the Australian XS and XT model and don't have a choice when really they are just for aesthetics. If fog was an issue in more than 5% of this country, the car would also come with a rear fog light, as did every car I ever drove in the UK.
