Hey folks, just got my forrie about a month ago and need to do the timing belt and clutch, alternator belt etc. Went to the local dealer to get genuine parts, he got them in, I picked them up and took them home and now looking at them the alternator belt is stamped mitsubOshi. My question is did Subaru and Mitsubishi team up at some stage like Ford and Nissan did? Also the clutch is stamped EXEDY. I believe exedy supply OEM to a lot of manufacturers, is Subaru one of them?
Cheers :)

Mitsubishi Group are huge- they make alternators and starter motors for other companies- probably other things as well. No surprises there. Not sure about the clutch, but likely.

fridges, ovens, excavators, skid steers, microwaves, push bikes, air-conditioners, fans etc.... just your average company doing it tough

Scary fact is companies like Hyundai and Daewoo are bigger than them

In Oz, a company is diversified if it makes two or three parts.

At last count (about 15 years ago ... ), Panasonic made something like 32,000 products ...

Mitsubishi is indeed huge (they were a customer of mine in Japan). "Mitsuboshi Belting" however is a different organisation.

Yeah that's correct Kevin, the belt is marked MitsubOshi with an O.
But doesn't Mitsubishi also make trains and nuclear power plants? or is that Kelvinator?

I read a few years ago that Mitsubishi Bank had a greater GDP than all of Australia lol

MitsubOshi...thats a new one lol :iconwink:

^ it is - if you consider 1919 as "new" :iconwink:

During my time in Japan I noted there are lots of company names that are very close to those we readily recognise.
