Would like to thank everybody that enters the shopping centres in droves in a mass panic about the shops shutting for one day, and stocking up like a hurricane is coming through, in my bakery today we take the same amount of money in a day that we do for a normal week, this means that we have to make the same amount of product that we would for a week in one day:biggrin:
We started baking at 3PM yesterday arvo (Normally start at 1AM but its physically impossible to get all the hot cross buns done in time to keep up with demand today) and we will stop at about 4PM this arvo, working through just over 2500kg of flour,
I just worked from 11PM til 12PM busting my gut, busting out hot cross buns like a factory machine,
needless to say ive had too much caffeine, its beer o clock and im pooped.:)

Also support your local bakery if you are still going to buy hot cross buns today, the extra money you pay for them is worth it because they aren't a frozen product that the "supermarkets" put in a oven for 5 mins and they are done.

Nice Job, it would be hard working in a bakery. How many hot cross bund do you think you will make for the 1 day?

On a similar note, I hope everyone has a good Easter. Keep safe and drive safe :iconwink: I know im going home for it (if I get my uni assignments done), its a 700km drive each way and the traffic is going to he horrendous

Try not to eat too much chocolate either :iconwink:

I can give you some numbers haha
6140 fruit traditional hot crossies
1700 choc chip
510 mocha
210 fruitless
Considering they are all scratch baked and made by hand its a nightmare of a day, plus on top of them we get swamped for bread and stuff, we made about 1000 loaves of bread and about 3000 bread rolls on top of all our other normal product range, glad its over for another year.....

Wow, I could imagine.

I know from working as waiter & kitchen hand at a restraunt what busy times are like. Once I did 11hours straight with no break on New Years. Being double pay was nice but it was a hell of a day, the business turned over almost $7000 in 2hours so you could imagine how many customers we had.
New Years always used to be the worst (this was in my home town which is a tourist town). The town over Christmas would x5 in its polulation! Easter is pretty bad too, I really wanted to do to this awesome beach/dune place camping while I was home but I won't get the chance since the foz isn't upto the task and the L I don't think would make it the drive up. Plus theres always way too many people their over Easter or any holiday really.

Yeh where i live the population does the same during chrissy and easter, turns a nice little town into a gridlocked ****fight, we normally take $16,000 for the day and about $12,000 on easter saturday, the longest day ive done is 16 hours year before last chrissy eve, 10 pm to 2pm...was a walking caffiented zombie by the end of it...i have 3 days off now was planning on going camping inland river side at a spot where some good rapids are but i rung up to book and it was booked out 3 weeks ago:( stupid tourists

Great job & well done wombat:bananatoast:
After a day like that, you well & truly deserve a couple of days off to relax

As taza said, if you're out & about over the Easter break, be safe & stay safe

Regards
Mr Turbo
