G'day dudes,

I've started noticing some weird noises when my front suspension needs to compress rapidly - ie: entering a driveway, driving across a drainage channel, when an incline begins or ends, hitting a road imperfection or, more commonly, driving offroad.

Essentially it's a knocking sound, but it's also a bit of a squeek or a small honk, almost like it's hitting it's bump stops.

The car has done 111,000km on stock everything. If my front shockers and springs are 111,000km old - could the car be bottoming out?

EDIT: Sorry - I should have put this in the Suspension area.....feel free to move it Mr Moderator :-)

Suspension guys reckon the shocks are only good for somewhere between 80-120,000 klm. If you take it to a suspension specialist they can test to see what's wrong. (I don't recommend Peddars though)

My front suspension was squeaking on compression. It seemed to be worse in colder weather, although it disappeared on wet days.

Lubrication of the front anti-roll bar bushes cleared it up.

I'm up to 122000km, still on original shocks and springs.

Sounds like it could be worn bushes, although to answer your question, I reckon your shocks are getting worn the more you drive on them hehe ;)

Take your car to a shock specialists, maybe...
