I picked this up yesterday. I'm going to take this on longer trips and will look into getting a kayak so i can stick it on top and still do some river fishing although i won't be using it in most of the rivers up north. Too many critters with rather large teeth for my liking.
I will probably keep my boat and get a different style of tent and use that for short fishing trips.
This is a Jayco Flight which has been superceeded by the Swift if i remember rightly.
It is 11 months old and has been used twice by some older people, who i have no doubt are 100% genuine.
Not a mark on it and still has a new smell.
I will post some more pics later.

It has Jayco bed flys each end and a Jayco bag awning and has had custom canvas annex fittings made.
They are in 3 sections which can be added individually and also has a side draught protector. The annex sections are put on by zippers which makes it nice and easy and have storm flaps which are like an extension flap at the bottom of the annex which fold under and stop the rain coming in.
It weighs about 670kgs (which is lighter than the new model) and the car does seem to handle it quite OK.
I will need to see how it goes fully loaded up with 65ltrs of water and other stuff though.
Just about the only thing i will do is fit a TV capable of running on 12/240v and maybe a few personal touches.
Without putting the bed flys or annex up i can be set up in 10mins and scoffing a nice cold tinny:ebiggrin:.

Cool little camper.

Would love to see some pics all set up, we've been thinking about getting something similar.

Awesome! We've got an old Cub "drifter 3" camper. Went well but needs a new chassis after it was borrowed by some long gone family friends that damaged it years ago, the patch job held up for a bit but now it's time to sort it out once and for all!

You'll love it!

Cheers

Now back at The Gold Coast. The van towed pretty well really. Funny enough it was not much different to the boat but used more juice. Otherwise good.
I am still of two minds re keeping the car though. Once i add 65ltrs of water,a 35kg battery and other stuff i would be up around 200kgs and am not confident that the car can handle it without a struggle.
I'm still tossing up about the boat though. I reckon i need an 'all in one' package and my mate is going to send me some info about about a lightweight fibreglass boat that weighs 44kgs and is about 12' long. This could be supported on top of the van on a rack and can run with a 8hp motor so this could be cool.
Therefore the boat and car would go. Still thinking about a 6 cylinder Outback. It would be so much easier.
The van is pretty basic but more than enough for me. The fridge is an evaporative style, unlike the portable fridges which are compressor driven, and the auto elec guy told me they will flatten a battery in about 4 hrs or so. If you run this fridge on 12v it runs continuously so 240v or gas is the go. According to the book it uses 240gms of gas p/h.
I will probably install an electric water pump for the sink and look at a few thinks like a solar panel etc.
Anybody interested in a great little tinny send me a PM. Pics are on my thread 'Round Oz'. I would take a REASONABLE offer and will post in the For Sale section soon.:)

If your not sure the car is upto the task you could look at getting a H6 Outback. Has more power (a good 25% more plus 2 cylinders) and still has decent fuel economy.

Then theres an XT Foz, but they are quite thursty :raspberry:

Thtas if you want to stay in a Subie, but it doesn't hurt to see how your Forester goes first when all loaded up.
