Subaru Forester Buying Guide

I believe the "front mounter evaporater" would be a condenser.

Still I learned a few things from that.

Wait did he just say that a Rav 4 or outlander power past a fox offroad?

There are a number of issues with this article. I;m not sure how they can call the interior bland compared to a CRV or Rav4. Other way round but I guess it is a personal issue and thus subjective. To say that the second gen is a thinly disguised 1st gen is quite wrong. The second gen is significantly stronger stuctually, and thus weighs noticeably more. I will compare the ride height of my MY04 to my colleagues MY07, but there does not appear to be any difference. I have not driven the Rav4, but I know it lacks a low range and it's AWD system is inferior to the Subaru- this is not mentioned in the article yet they claim the Rav 4 will go where the Forrie will not. Both the turbo and non turbo cars can be a joy to drive on road (considering what they are) and the non turbo can be hustled along fast enough to keep up with the turbo on fast flowing roads. The underbody clearance of the Forrie compared to rivals is not bad considering- and I have yet to damage anything under the car save the splash tray. While there might be a rare few who have gone offroad to a greater extent than myself, I reckon my Forries have gone to more difficult places than the vast majority will ever go- so what does this bloke expect?

The problems i have with the Forrie are that the cars could be more economical- and offer a bit more performance. The dead spot just off idle is a major pain, and the standard tyres are a joke. Overall a great little car.

Total crap! Just my 2 cents worth.

The Forester is by far superior in every way over all its competitors. The reason why it won the best compact 4x4 award between 97-05 or somewhere around there. Well it won it for a good few years straight in a row.

A lift kit, comeon for god sake. Why wouldn't you lift one, its easy to do and if you do go offroad it can actually save your car from damage!

The other competitors with inline 4 cylinder engines have all their power up high and not enough down low. Boxer engines, especially the EJ25 N/A are extremely torque down low and in the mid range for a small petrol engine.
Plus with the choice to have a low range with the manual (which can be swapped like lego to the Scorpion L-Series 60% Low Range) and the best AWD system yoiu would vbe stupid not to get one if you planned to go offroad every now and again.

EDIT: removed some words I said about the writter...

What an insulting little review.

simplestic AWd system? it is far better the Hondas, and its real AWD.

I didnt realize that it is only a 5 year belt change, here in the USA they are all 106,000 mi8les.

Once again it proves anyone with a keyboard can write anything they want without knowing a thing about it.

The person that wrote it probably had the :censored: when they realised they'd made the mistake of not buying a Subi & went for something else instead :poke:

You should of seen what I said before I edited it after realising the public shouldn't read it:furious:

I challenge a stock Forester to any of its competitors offroad! A stock auto XT, atleast power wouldn't be an issue :lildevil:

Personally I think he was knocked back for a Subaru test drive of something fun. He is certainly p****d off at Subaru for some reason, hence his irrational & inaccurate opinions
