It was a fun trip on the tracks at Noojee.

FozzyMatt, Ratbag, Barry, Venom & myself met in the carpark. After a quick squiz at each others Subies, lol, we checked the map, synched our CBs & set off up Ridge Rd. Soon enough we came to a big gum with "LV1" painted on it.

This was the signpost!

After a quick discussion on insurance, we decided that it was named & signposted so we were all covered lol :raspberry:

We found the recent grading made LV1 very passable & made it all the way to bitumin.

A stop for lunch then as we were heading off it was noticed Matts trim in his wheel arch was loose. A cable tie later we were on our way. Very handy things to have ;)

Cant remember the name of the next track (anyone) but it was a very steep downhill with lots of those mounds to divert runoff. Some were very sharply angled so some rubbing was unavoidable. We contemplated going back up but decided it was "too adventurous" lol.

Then we cruised around looking for tracks. Found one promising spot only to find it abruptly stopped! Turn around...

Then we found a nice steep track.

Barry had some trouble getting past a particularly hard spot (1.19:1) low range didnt help! So we set off up a powerline track... ahhh, they're always fun!

The start was very steep (recurring theme?) with some diagonal ridges. Being concerned with his not-so-low low range, & being reminded "speed = distance", Barry gave it some.

With the bystanders leaping out of the way, Barry's outback was a blur as it flashed past lol. We all made it up, so onto the bog ahead. Matt's lifted Foz with chunky tyres seemed a cert, but no....stuck. I drove around the bog & snatched him out.

Venom in his mighty H6 Liberty (locker, LSD's, lift) decided it had to be conquered.... stuck! Matt's turn to snatch.

Yes the mighty Lib was snatched lol :shrug:

Dont worry Rhys, it was bound to happen sometime :raspberry:

The powerline track wound around back onto the tar a few times, eventually we ended up at another bog, with Matt in the lead again he found himself bogged. The risk of going first!

After some trouble placing the snatch, he was out, but with his arms covered in boggy, smelly mud (note to self: bring extra water for washing off stinky mud). Then we noticed leeches! I found one on the inside of my pants on my thigh. Seconds later Barry's pants were down frantically searching haha. All clear. No one wants leeches there!

We decided we'd had a good day so it was back to Noojee for a coffee at the Red Parrot cafe where there was...a red parrot :rolleyessarcastic:

A great trip, lots of fun & no damage! Thanks to all...

Barry enthusiastically climbing the powerline track. Note the clouds of dust & the front tyres :

Unfortunately, my shot of Venom being snatched didnt come out. It was too blurry, possibly due to disbelief lol

Great shots of the cars going down the hill

Looks like a good day out! No wet clay to slide down this weekend?

haha no wet clay, just this little guy as he climbed out of a bog FozzyMatt & myself had just been through. Somehow he's still dry:

Check out those eyes! :lildevil:

Great to hear that you guys all had a great time
Sorry to hear about your shoulder & arm though RB :sadbanana: Hope it's nothing major & it's feeling better really soon mate :)

Yes cable ties have a 1001 uses. I have a pack of them that live in my Forry, as you never know when they'll come in handy for something :)

I've done that a few times before myself  As they say, a little momentum always seems to help in those situations :iconwink:

Snatch recoveries in the mud are always fun, especially when trying to find & attach the D Shackles to your recovery points etc

Then we noticed leeches! I found one on the inside of my pants on my thigh. Seconds later Barry's pants were down frantically searching haha. All clear. No one wants leeches there!
That reminds me of a scene in the movie "Stand By Me"
And yes, leeches are definitely something you don't want on you, especially down there :raspberry: [/quote]

Looks like you had a little bit of everything, from dirt & dust, to a few bog holes, with the odd recovery thrown in for good measure. Together with a few steep hills both up & down aswell :raz:
Sounds like you guys had an adventurous trip indeed
But I have to ask, are there any pics of the day ?
Love to see them if there are :poke:

Edit: Oops just noticed some pics have been posted up  My bad

Yeah. A good day out with none of that really dangerous stuff we encountered at Bunyip ... Love the spider! Great catch, and seeing.

Nice piccies mate.

I suspect that it will be a few days before I get any of mine uploaded.

I did take quite a few. Some of them must have some merit! :rotfl:

Great report gentlemen!!!

Sorry to hear about the arm RB, hope it gets to feeling better soon.

Sounds and look like y'all had a much better time on this trip.:iconwink:

Gidday Carl

Great report gentlemen!!!

Hey, watch who you're calling a 'gentleman', Mac ... :rotfl:.

Sorry to hear about the arm RB, hope it gets to feeling better soon.

Thanks Carl. I think it's a lot better tonight, but I have taken so much Panadol and Panadeine Forte and Valium in the last 24 hours, it could all be in my imagination  .

Sounds and look like y'all had a much better time on this trip.:iconwink:

Yeah  .
That last one in Bunyip SP could very easily have ended in tears.
We were very fortunate that it didn't ...

Its not fair!!!!!! You guys are having all the fun. Looks like a great trip was had, just like the last :iconwink:
Some more pics or even a vid would be nice!!

When I get over there in the next few years your gonna have to take me on a trip! All we have over here is sand, sand and more sand as my carpets can explain :rolleyessarcastic:

been done before I recall ;-)

Sounds like a good day out. Sorry I couldn't make it.

Had a fantastic time, and great to meet a number of the ORS 'clan'.

I definitely need an after market gearbox with decent low range. Once I lose momentum on any decent incline there is little or no chance of getting going again.

This happened to me earlier this month at Corryong, and likewise at Briagalong in December 2010.

While full throttle in low 1st is fun :lildevil: I would definitely like to be able to finesse my ascents to a greater degree!

So, the new box will be the 2012 'project', together with fitting the rear LSD and camber off-set *1" strut blocks, to replace my subtlesolutions blocks. :discomonkey:

* See post #40 on my thread:
https://www.offroadsubarus.com/showthread.php?t=1078&page=4

Based on the reduction in total height at the rear arch of 35mm since the lift was fitted, the new camber off-set rear lift blocks can be a total of 60mm in height.

Yep, if you had stopped on that 1st bend I would have slid right into you & there would've been nothing I could've done about it! :shake:

We sure are :monkeydance:

Thats all I have... anyone else?

Sand is a lot of fun but I love crawling up rocky tracks, scrambling up steep, loose gravel tracks & snatching OTHERS out of bogs! :raspberry:

Yeah I remembered that later.

Oh well, see you next time....

Barry, a new box with L-series low range (plus your rear LSD) would transform your Subie :lildevil:

Have you thought of 2" blocks? Would help overcome the Outbacks overhanging bumpers plus keep the belly off the rocks more... Just a thought :iconwink:

That is the 'problem' with having airbags. ... My 1" longer springs and 1" strut lift is all that is legal. :(

However, the new box, including front LSD, with 12kg centre diff and rear LSD will certainly help.

I am also going to re-measure my rear height to determine how much the KingSprings have sagged, to see if I can perhaps have another 10 - 15mm built into the new rear strut lifts.* :) That would make the strut tops 40mm in total.

However, with the greater front overhang of the Outback, it is always going to be a bit more difficult on approaching trenches than the Forester.

That cracks me up :p
Sand can be a lot of fun for sure, but I too prefer the rocky, rutted & dirt tracks :)

Yep it was a great day and good to meet the guys who came along!

Thanks Nachaluva for doing this report because it probably would have taken me weeks to get around to it. I've got some photos that I'll upload eventually but it's probably gonna take a bit of a fight with my ancient computer to do it!

Great pics of coming down that super-steep track, I'd actually forgotten about that one. Shame that it ended so suddenly!

And yes, water for washing off stinky mud is probably a very good idea. Much as I enjoyed being muddier than my car!

That photo of the spider's a ripper too.

Really cool! I wish I could have joined!

Its just a short drive down the coast :raspberry:
