I'll be down Yalwal/Coolendel this weekend with some mates 4wding, camping and Bass fishing. If anyone is down that way I'll be on Ch.15

Oh yeah, leaving at lunch time today and heading back to sydney on sunday some time.

Had an awesome trip, not much driving done, but plenty of drinking/relaxing on the water and some quality bass were caught!

I won the comp we had running with a 48cm cracker! Took home the prize of an empty beer bottle...

Ok here goes,

I've only processed a handful of photos, the rest are still in RAW files.

Photos are:
1. Loaded up somewhere on Burrier Rd
2. The prize winner - 48cm Bass. All bass were given the kiss for goodluck and sent on their way.
3. One of the resident Peacocks at Coolendel
4. Now thats a fire! (Eddie Murphy - Delirious)
5. Here is some thing you might not see everyday, an echidna crossing the river (100m wide 3-4m deep).

Photo No. 6. I picked the little guy up half way across and gave him a lift to the other side.

You can catch bass upstream, downstream, across stream, anywhere around Coolendel. I got the big one off the bank below the campground waiting for my mate to do a sh#t...

They are great pics Cheyne_r. You have a great eye & really know how to take a photo. I really like the 3rd one with the Peacock. :)

And this is what I love so much about going camping & the great outdoors.
Thanks for sharing. :)

Had you been a few days earlier I would have joined you. I went through Yalwal, Tianjara etc on Thursday last week. Well worth the effort to drive out to those places. George Boyd lookout has awesome views as does Saals lookout that faces the opposite direction.

ha i didn't know echidna's could swim. thats a nice size bass mate. did you use lures or flys?

Yep got him on a spinnerbait.

We did get a few on surface lures at night, but during the day they were only rolling on the surface lures and not hitting them. Best bet for the next month or so is to use diving lures or spinner baits. Once the cicadas go nuts, get onto the big jitterbugs!
