How to avoid being car-jacked

I've heard that before :) & it does make sense :iconwink:

As more auto's are now being made / driven, it means that there are even less manuals around, with even less people knowing how to drive them.
Especially in the younger generation.

Haha, that's great Rally. My dad wanted to make sure i knew how to drive a stick if i ever needed it, so therefor my first vehicle was a manual. Even though i haven't owned a manual since, i can still get in someones car that is and drive it if the need ever arises.

Well good thing I drive a manual  I couldn't dream of driving an auto, I hate them. Boring, slow, they don't downshift or upshift when you want. But yet again there are benefits.

If they couldnt work out how to drive a floor shift, they would be stumped if they tried my ute. It has the original manual three speed column shift.

The old HR ute looks ace. Does the old three on the tree have synchro on first?

It is true though.

Thats an awesome looking Holden!

I like column shift. I used to drive em for work, 2 Hiaces, one 4 on the tree, the other 5 on the tree. Took some getting used to but then found it at least as fast as on the floor...bit sloppy though so you just slam it in lol

I've driven 3 on the tree and 5 on the tree- I hated them! Nothing beats in my experience a well engineered floor shift. Something that to date Subaru have failed to design unfortunately.

Rally,

Yes I have had the linkages modded to operate a 3spd all syncro box. It makes it easier to move along in modern traffic.

I have also driven 4 and 5 spd column manuals in the past (work etc). Once you know where each gear is (most are evry similar) they are not a prob. No different to going from 4 speed manual, to 6 speed manual. Just make sure you knowwhere reverse is and you are fine.

Nachaluva,

Thanks. I have had this ute for around 15 years now. Full rebuld back then over a couple of years. It has just had a 'patch and paint' agaibn to get rid of the rust, and look 'pretty' again.

Did you replace the driver's side door? It looks slightly different...
